I am a recovering addict of three years a special friend gave this to me and it help me apply my life with Bible and daily living with the 12 steps. The 12 steps are not just for addicts they can be used for anyone who wants to make life better. I will never stray from this Bible.

This translation bridges the gap between my concept of "Higher Power" and Jesus Christ. Reading the study notes is just like going to a meeting: I seem to get exactly what I need at that point in time!

Based on the 12 step model, this Bible can be used by anyone needed support or encouragement as they learn to trust God using His Word in battling addiction.The 12 step model that is generally associated with addiction to drugs or alcohol, but this model can be used for a variety of addictive behavior patterns. Woven into The Life Recovery Bible NLT are key areas that can assist anyone who has identified behavior in themselves that needs to change.What I found exceptional my review of this bible was first that the New Living Translation is used. The NLT is perfect for those who may not know God personally and perhaps have picked this bible up to begin a recovery process, or for the new believer who needs a version of Gods Word that is easy to read, but it is also good for the seasoned bible student as it can added to their understanding if read along with the King James Version.Next, I found the Recovery Themes section that introduces each book of the Bible to be interesting and suggests the recovery perspective in each book. When selecting a Bible for a specific reason, connecting the reader and their issue to Gods Word as it applies to that specific need is paramount. The Recovery Themes achieve this.Included also are devotionals, prayers, profiles, notes, reflections, outlines, indexes, and user guides. All together, this is an exceptional Bible born from a ministry to touch those in addiction. It is the best Bilbe I've found that is ALL about Recovery, wheather in a 12 step program or not, anyone can benifit from reading the devotionals. It puts everything into perspective when dealing with "life's" trials.

This is a great tool for the Recovery Ministry. The NLT is an easy to understand and read aloud translation. Many features in this bible are focused on helping with recovery and making your relationship with God more personal than most other bibles. It lacks the words of Christ in Red which is my only draw back. Many features include profiles which helps you realize that you are not alone and God is with you at all times. During the good times and during the bad times walking with you and many times there to carry you. I am a member of the Tyndale Blog Network. This is the second time I have reviewed a Bible and it is just as awkward as the first time. It helps that this time I am not reviewing the text itself. The Life Recovery Bible uses the text of the New Living Translation. This is the translation that I really like and that I have begun to most use. As with any study Bible or devotional Bible, it is the notes that distinguish it from other Bible editions. In The Life Recovery Bible, all the study notes, devotions, articles, and book introductions are written primarily for those individuals in some sort of recovery program. This is especially true for either Alcoholics Anonymous (or similar twelve step programs) or Christian twelve step programs. And there are notes, lots of them. They are well written and, from my perspective, should prove helpful to individuals struggling through recovery. As an evangelical Christian, I believe the Bible and Christian fellowship are keys to recovery. The notes in this Bible only reinforce that. I got a copy of this Bible in my first year of sobriety (I've got just over six years - just for today). While doing my Third Step, I rediscovered my "lost" faith. This Bible has been, like the Lord, my constant companion. More than ANY other Bible I've ever had, this one is my most used, loved, referenced, and cherished. I'd recommend it not *just* to people in Twelve Step/Recovery programs, but to *ANYONE* looking for a deep, insight-filled, well thought out Bible. I'd give it ten stars if I could!

I have many bibles but this one is the answer to my addiction to self doubt and fear of recovery. God is awesome and gives when you are ready to receive! This study bible has the study helps I needed! I recommend it to/ for anyone ready to recover! The size is easy to carry and has very readable text and notes. I am enjoying NLT version as its very easy to understand!

For anyone who is involved in a Celebrate Recovery program, this bible is for you. I have been involved in a Celebrate Recovery ministry for six years. I use the devotionals for our group meetings. They are a great asset to bring application to anyone who is going through any addiction. The Serenity devotionals are great also. I also enjoy the New Living Translation. It is an easier version to apply to your life.
