Tyndale House Taming Rafe, Noble Legacy Series #2

Hotel heiress Katherine Breckenridge just wants to make a lasting difference in her world by running her late mother's charity foundation. But she fears she lacks the passion and courage to be as successful as her mother was--a fear that's realized when money from the foundation goes missing and Katherine's one shot to recover it is ruined by Rafe Noble. Two-time world champion bull rider Rafe Noble is at the top of his game when tragedy hits. Guilt stricken over the loss of his best friend, Rafe accidentally drives his truck into the lobby of the Breckenridge Hotel during Katherine's fund-raiser. With a broken knee, a ruined reputation, and the threat of several lawsuits, Rafe goes back to his family's ranch--the Silver Buckle--to recover. Desperate to save the foundation, Katherine heads to the Silver Buckle to talk Rafe into helping her raise the needed funds. But a few days under the bright Montana skies give her more than she bargained for, and Kat discovers there's more to both herself and Rafe Noble than she realized.

It's very entertaining. It keeps you on your toes until the end. Even though you think you know what's going on, you really don't know the whole story until the last chapter. She's a very good writer. She gets you to look at the same story from different angles.

Susan May Warren pens another winner with "Taming Rafe"! There is no lack of action in the opening chapters with the younger Noble brother's tragic bull ride and a trip to New York City with less than a desirable outcome. Katherine Breckenridge's story is easy to get caught up in as well: a poor little rich girl who is about to have her foundational rug literally ripped out from under her, she must convince Rafe to help her recoup her fund raiser losses caused by his thoughtlessness in New York. There's only one problem - Rafe is broke and broken. Can Kat help restore Rafe's cowboy spirit in time to appease her grandfather's demands? Will her time spent on the Noble ranch leave her heart intact? Susie is an incredible storyteller! She does her research on her subjects so that you can trust how she brings her stories to life. I almost wept when she mentioned Lane Frost, a deceased champion bull rider. I was so wrapped up in these characters that when the romance finally kicked in, my heart melted. And then, when I saw the conflict that would drive them apart being introduced, I almost yelled into the book to warn the characters it was coming! Susie also brilliantly injected a "novel" within this book that we were able to really read and enjoy, so "Rafe" was like a two-for-one read! How creative!!! I'm so glad I invested in this novel. I was absolutely not disappointed.

Great, engrossing read. Her characters feel so real-you are instantly drawn into the book from the first page. I think I enjoyed Reclaiming Nick more than this one but they are both excellent!

Sometimes when the first book in a series surprises you and sweeps you into the romance, I wonder if the second book will live up to the first. In this case Susan May Warren has written a sequel that more than stands on its own.Taming Rafe tells the story of two broken people, each searching for something but not really sure what. Katherine Breckenridge wants to break out of the expectations that she's been forced to live with. But she's hesitant to try. And Rafe feels even more like the lesser Noble after his life implodes. The book pulled me into the fictional dream mainly through the deep pain and searching of the characters. Katherine and Rafe each have deep reasons they are suffering their current problems. But the choice to confront those issues and take a less safe path, left me rooting for them. Could they do? Or would they take the easier rode? The book is filled with challenges for the characters...each of those a natural outgrowth of the plot and characters. And the secondary characters added a rich layer to the story through John and Lolly's fight to choose each other or walk away, and Nick's inability to communicate with Rafe. Add in a grandfather who wants to shelter his granddaughter, an almost fianc who wants to elope and all kinds of other conflict, and this is a rich story it was almost impossible to put down.

Westerns usually aren't my cup of tea, but this series has really grabbed my attention. And I'm not just talking about the covers, even though they are SUPER HOT! This book taught me a lot about bull riding and the dangers that go with this sport. I've never really been a big fan of watching bull riding (and I still don't necessary agree with the sport even after reading the book) but I do have a lot more respect for the riders. It's a sport where you never know what's going to happen because you're not in control of the situation. I really liked Kat as a character. She has enough money to be a rich socialite but her heart is in the right place because she is focused on helping others. Her relationship with Brad adds suspense to the story with twists that the reader doesn't see coming. Rafe is a character that changes throughout the story. It's a interesting ride as the reader watches him grow. I loved the story within a story with the book that John wrote. It was actually quite a good read and I would have loved to have it more fleshed out as a story on its own. The only thing that irked me a bit was Lolly. I just wish she would have told Kat right off the bat who she was instead of clamming up. Of course it would have ruined the story, but I just hate it when things could have been resolved easily if there wasn't unnecessary drawn out drama. Also I didn't like the way she treated John. And women complain that there are never any good guys out there. All in all though, this was a wonderful story that I couldn't stop reading. I'm looking forward to reading the next book to find out more about Stefanie.

WOW! The struggles that Katherine and Rage have are the same as many who can relate. Again, Susan shows how our stuggles in our walk with God can come out making us strong.

A Romance Novel at its BEST!I love a good story, and Taming Rafe is just that. A good story wrapped up in a western with a touch of mystery and suspense. But it is so much more. It is also a wonderful Christian story about people who struggle with suffering loss, healing from pain, and moving on with life. The characters are real, and I was drawn into this love story from the first chapter. I hope Susan writes a sequel, because I want to know what happens next in Rafe's life.An AWESOME read for a mom in need of some romance in her life. Just like me.

Taming Rafe is a wonderful story of God's love and two people (actually, four when you count John and Lolly) finding God's way and their struggles as they try to fully follow Him. The struggles throughout the story are very realistic and well written. Even after finishing the story, it left me thinking of God's love and Him fighting for us. I highly recommend Taming Rafe.

Wow. Just...wow. This was an incredible book. I couldn't put it down, and as soon as I finished it, I wanted to go back and read it again.I was a little nervous when I purchased this book, because with both the Team Hope Series and the Mission Russia series, I loved the first book in the series but was disappointed by the second one. That was NOT the case with this book. I was not disappointed in the least, and now I can't wait for Finding Stefanie. Warren has a tremendous talent for writing heroes, and I think Rafe might be my favorite out of all her books that I've read so far. My favorite part of the book was Rafe's discussion with God, and asking God to fight for him. That really struck a personal cord with me. It's so very hard sometimes when you have a low opinion of yourself to think of God as someone who really is willing to fight for you. Highly recommended. :)

I've been looking forward to this one for months, ever since Reclaiming Nick pleasantly surprised me as being not your typical Western romance. Taming Rafe does the same thing, but is even better at it. Rafe and Katherine are far from the stereotypical cowboy with a bad attitude and snobby socialite, and as such they, especially Rafe, are easy to care about and root for. Rafe, in particular, as well as his struggles to break out of the mold created by his heart condition, caught my attention and wormed his way into my heart as well, and by the same token, Katherine's desire to find and fulfill her purpose while living up to her mother's name was understandable and touching. Even more than the characters, though, I have to say I got a kick out of this plot. At first, I thought I wasn't going to like it because I could see some things, like the truth about Lolly, coming from a mile away. But Susie made up for it by withholding a lot of information that turned out to be more important, showing her good judgment as an author and keeping me surprised until the very last page. She's done it again, and as Susie said on the last page, I will definitely be joining her for book three!

Eight seconds is all it took to destroy the life of Rafe Noble, world champion bull rider. He was riding Pee Wee when he was tossed by the inappropriately named bull. Instead of tumbling to the ground he got caught on the horns. His best friend Manuel Rodriguez saved Rafes life, but lost his own leaving behind a wife and young son.----------Feeling guilt and unable to ride, Rafe is in New York to raise money for the Breckenridge Foundation whose president Katherine Breckenridge needs money to fund Mercy Doctors in Mexico. A bit drunk Rafe crashes into the hotel hosting the gala destroying the event and himself. He runs back to his family ranch in Montana to heal and escape the media, but it is Katherines accusation that rips his gut. She decides to visit him on his family ranch to get him to help her raise money for her cause. As they fall in love, secrets involving her late bull riding daddy, her deceased sophisticated fundraising mom, and her mysterious missing Aunt surface.----------The sequel to RECLAIMING NICK is a warm inspirational Noble Legacy contemporary romance. The lead couple is a wonderful pairing and the romance between an older couple adds depth to the strong story line, but it is little Carlos, in spite of a tiny appearance, who haunts the heroine and the reader. The return of the other two Noble siblings makes life on the ranch seem right for the audience. Although a late suspense involving embezzlement provide unnecessary suspense, readers will appreciate Susan May Warrens fine tale while considering ask not what God can do for you; ask what you can do for God.------Harriet Klausner
