Rachel OMalley is strong. She has to be its what the family expects. Its her job. And its the very thing she is wearing raw. A flood. A murder. Her sister dying. In the midst of it all there is Cole. Doesnt she know hes in love with her? Captain Cole Parker is right there to catch her when she falls- literally. As they face the challenge of their community a deep love ties them together. Jennifer OMalley is dying. Her siblings have all come to know Jesus- all except Stephen. But will she live to see him believe? The best book I have EVER read. Of course, without the previous books in the series there wouldnt be the strong tie to the story. I almost cried writing this review not kidding. There are happy tears. There are lots, and lots of sad tears (keep the Kleenex box close). You are left in the dark. The Healer leaves readers depressed part of the storys impact. (Check out more of my reviews under TEEN REVIEWS at www.christianromancemagazine.com)

I have to say that, out of all of the books in this series, this one would proberbly be my favourite, for a couple of reasons. Number One, Marcus, Quinn and Lisa are all working on the same case together, like in The Guardian and The Truth-Seeker. Two, I LOVE Rachel and Cole's relationship. (And have you noticed that this is the second book that has a friend/co-worker of one of the O'Malley brothers fall in love with one of their sisters? Quinn is Marcus' partner, and he fell in love with Lisa, and now Cole, who is Jack's friend and superior, is in a relationship with Rachel.) And reason number three is that Kate and Dave and Lisa and Quinn get married!!! I've been waiting for Kate and Dave to tie the knot since The Negotiator, and Lisa and Quinn were and added bonus.

I didn't think I could love a story as much as Kate's but this is it. I love getting to know Rachel in "The Protector". I love how Dee makes each story so unique to the character. This is such a bittersweet story, featuring a wonderful time shared by the sisters that is cut short by tragedy, and surprise weddings and engagements, and loss. Another book that is extremely hard to put down.

Rachel O'Malley is a trauma psychologist seeing to the needs of flood victims in Chicago. She is working alongside her brother, Jack, and Chicago Fire Captain, Cole Parker. Cole has been enamored with Rachel for quite awhile, but hasn't really acted on his feelings. Now that she is a new Christian, that is about to change. Yet he pursues her with maturity and tenderness because she is what he really wants. Lisa O'Malley is integral to the plot, investigating a shooting where much of the crime scene has been destroyed by the flood. The plot thickens when several shootings occur at the local Middle and High Schools. The suspense builds as the investigations continue. Dee Henderson develops a wonderfully suspenseful whodunit! The moments shared by Rachel and Cole are touching and well worth re-reading and smiling over. Once again, the other O'Malleys make their cameo appearances and Jennifer O'Malley's illness is still showcased. This is a "can't-put-it-down" book. There are also some very poignant moments regarding dealing with intense grief. The other O'Malley novels are: The Negotiator, The Guardian, The Truth Seeker, The Protector, The Healer, The Rescuer. Each is a wonderful read!

its so hard to pick a favorite omalley! but this book was definately one of my favorites. ive given up trying to find a favorite male lead in these books! i certainly love cole though! hes so sweet, but a very strong man at the same time. and rachel. wow rachel. she actually inspired me to pursue a career in counseling. im studying christian counseling in college because of rachel o malley! (lol) i loved her tender heart, and how she reached out to hurting people, and yet she still had a good head on her shoulders. i cant say how much i loved this book!
