Peter Amue4 Stars Out Of 5February 4, 2007Peter AmueBoersma has written an excellent study on the Atonement of Christ. The book is an important contribution to the study of orthodox Christian theology and the post-modern thought. He tackles the issues raised by sceptics against Christian tradition, and shows how the post-modern thought does not fit in with Christianity. Even though Boersma has a Calvinist Reformed background he does not push the Calvinistic views in his book. He deals with the issue of atonement from the Bible. I recommend this book mainly to scholars and teachers, and those who want to know more about the Atonement of Christ.

Chris Bradley4 Stars Out Of 5September 22, 2007Chris BradleyThis book has formed my thinking on the meaning and necessity of the Cross for our atonement. Boersma assembles a compelling and coherent theory of the atonement, gleaned from his study and that of other theologians, Miroslav Volf, in particular. His explanation of the Atonement as "moral influence", "penal representation" and "christus victor" have brought to me an extremely fulfilling understanding of why Christ died and how it should affect my life.
