Show your children how much you (and God!) love them. When Norbert comes home from school, he has had the worst day. He was picked last for the team and he feels awful. As he and his mother talk about the day's mishaps, she gently imparts The Blessing on him through spoken word, meaningful touch, attachment of high value, portraying a special future, and genuine commitment.
By the end of the book Norbert realizes that even if he was picked last for the team he is still loved by his parents and by God.

My brother is adopted so I grew up knowing it was a wonderful experience because I love my brother. It turns out that both of my children are adopted also, they are Korean born. My 29 year old daughter is a mom now to a 5 and 3 year old. I purchased the book for my grandkids so they parents can give them the blessing! I can hardly wait to give it to them when I visit in November for a birthday.

I’d Choose You by John Trent is an illustrated story that can both show parents how to encourage their children as well as remind children that everyone can have their bad days—even when you get to ride a roller coaster to school.
Nothing is going right for Norbert the elephant from sitting by himself on the ride to school to Heidi the hippo falling in his mashed potatoes and being left out of the ball game. After school, his mother informs him that even though he thinks there are lots of kids at his school that are better than he is, she would choose him out of them all.
This is a fun story with lively illustrations that can be a useful tool for parents as well as an entertaining book for kids. We all need reminders from time to time on how to encourage our kids (and each other) in different ways. I wish Trent had come up with a different ending, however. Ending the book with Heidi the hippo waiting outside I think was a little inappropriate for the overall tone of the book. I would still recommend this book.

As a child throughout school, if you don't exactly fit into what others expect it can be quite difficult, as I was never very good at sports or art so nobody picked me to be on their team till last which by then it meant that they had to have you on their team as nobody was left, you know the order they call it - the real sporty ones go first, then the average ones and then left as stragglers are the non-athletes- the ones left behind.
"The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his prized possession " Deuteronomy 7v6
Poor Norbet has had the worst day ever , and feels like he is unloved and nobody wants him, can Norbet's mother show him that he is the most special thing in the world to her and that God wants Norbert just the way he is and wouldn't have him any other way.
A story that is bound to put a smile on every child who has ever had a bad day whether it be at school for one reason or another -on their faces.
Everyone knows what it's like to have a bad day. And when Norbert comes home from school, he has had a really bad day.
