    Inspiring True Story

    Excellent book
"I have yet to hear God's audible voice, although I have often felt led by God in more subtle ways." This whole book is filled with inspiring quotes and every chapter starts with either a bible verse or a quote. Throughout this whole book it is about Tony Dungys' life and how he brings God into everything that happened, good or bad. Every event that happens in his life, he always makes sure to thank God for the opportunity to be living such a great life. This book is very influential because of the amount of detail that Tony puts into each thing that happened in his life and how it impacted him as a person. Between the struggles and success that he faced throughout his life, he never lost sight of what his true goals were. This book can be read by the whole family. Even if youre not a football fan, this book is very influential and shows how to be thankful for everything. When Tony says, Let go. Let God it is showing how that impacted his life and giving God the power, will lead you to the right direction.

Quiet Strength by Tony Dungy is an extremely influential book that can be enjoyed by everyone. Tony describes his experiences on and off the gridiron, but this is not the typical athlete or coach rehashing their career. He tells his story in a very honest and raw way that makes the audience understand his feelings and paints himself as a very humble and down to earth guy. Tony shares of his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and how he was influenced in a very positive way by some of his teammates. He recalls dismissing the alcohol and drugs that were used by some of his teammates and instead embracing Bible studies with other teammates. Tony shows his vulnerability when discussing not playing in the NFL because that is the only thing he wanted to do. However, he trusted in God and allowed God to guide his life which led to being blessed with a successful coaching career. Tony discusses how much he relies on God and how he lives a life that is in align with Christian principles. Tony stands out among the crowd because of his extreme devotion and passion for Christ. He writes about how he would share his faith with the players he coached. Tony stated how he cared more about the character of his players then their football skills. Tony is the ultimate role model in professional sports and in life. He has an incredible humble and compassionate attitude towards everyone he meets which is something everyone can learn from. This book isnt just about sports, but rather it is a book on how to live a life that is honoring to God while pursing your dreams. Football is used to share the story of a man who lives for Christ which is evident in the way he talks, acts, and carries himself. This is a must read for anyone who is wondering how to balance success and failure with a Godly lifestyle. I give this book five out of five stars for the life changing ideas and stories on each page.

I was very pleased after reading Tony Dungys book Quiet Strength. The book incorporates many strong life lessons, such as overcoming adversity in ones life, creating a very strong backbone to the entire story. While the story does focus a lot around Dungys football career and coaching career, it does not a take a football enthusiast or expert to understand the story. The book includes much background about Dungys personal life outside of football. As you read through the novel you cannot help but grow attached to his life. I loved this book because you can either read it alone by yourself, or read as a group of people or a family. Another significant element to his story is his commitment to his faith. He never loses sight of God through his trials, something that is an inspiration to us all. Many lessons can be taken away from his story, and most certainly be applied while you read through the book. As a whole the book is a very easy read. The chapters a short and precise, no extreme vocabulary is used, and the book is simply very personal. If there is any downside to this book it would be that maybe it is too simple of a reading. Some advanced readers may find the lack of challenge a downside to the book, but I would say that the simplicity of the book did not take away from the meaning whatsoever. Overall I really enjoyed this book. Its a great for anyone kind of person of any age. I definitely recommend this book.

First off, I am not a football fan. I watch it only because I have two people in my life who do love football. The only time I even showed any interest in football was when I lived in the Tampa Bay area. I remember when Tony Dungy took over as their head coach, and I remember how impressed I was and how the team changed. I was horrified when he was fired, and then we he became the Colts coach, I was somewhat interested. I remember how my heart broke when I heard of his son's suicide. The constant for me with Tony Dungy was that he is a Christian, and he never yelled at the officials and the players like the other coaches did.

I was not looking forward to reading this book because I figured it would be filled with football stuff. I was pleasantly surprised as I read the story of Dungy's life, and on almost every page, his faith showed forth in a very simple manner. I was so inspired, and more than once he almost had me in tears. To have the faith that he demonstrated throughout the book! Goodness, he puts me to shame! He gave all glory to God for everything, and he learned to trust Him in all things.

Indeed, this is the best Christian book I have read in ages. I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to deepen their walk with the Lord. It is autobiographical, but it is first and foremost a book of faith in God.

"Things will go wrong at times. You can't always control your attitude, approach, and response. Your options are to complain or to look ahead and figure out how to make the situation better." Just this quote alone is so informative and influential. Now imagine a whole book full of life-long advice like this. Well you're lucky, because this book is exactly what you're looking for and I promise you won't be disappointed when you dig in.

This book is about Tony Dungys' life as a former professional football player and eventually the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Super Bowl Champ with the Indianapolis Colts. It is an amazing story as he explains how life can be difficult to keep your eyes on God while walking through your life journey. Another quote Tony Dungy stated, "I need to treat everybody fairly, but fair doesn't always mean equal." Not falling into the requirements of sports, and keeping a strong connection with his family while gaining respect from everyone in his life was very important to him as he explains throughout this book. On a less serious note, Dungy has many comical stories, for example, how he and his wife, Lauren, met and dated then eventually got married. So if you like a little humor, you will not be let down.

Quiet Strength is absolutely amazing in every single way. It is such an influential book to not only Christians, but also anyone in the world who would like to live a Christ-centered life. It is a book that can be enjoyed by the whole family, whether you are sport lovers or not. The moral of Dungy's book is when you follow and trust God, you will be satisfied and not let down in the long run.
