Not only is Ann Voskamp a horrible author, writing in her melodic, sing songy way, her voice has a terrible shriek!
I do not understand all of the hype brought on by this book. This author has done nothing grand except state the obvious-be thankful for everything you have! To say that she states the obvious is an understatement though, because she has so little to truly say, but she writes it among a million other irrelevant words! If she were to just take out all of the poetry intermingled within her so called "story", she would hardly have enough words left over for a brief flyer!
The worst part about the audio CD is the fact that she reads the book herself. Sometimes speaking so fast you can't understand her, and then other times speaking so slow she draaags out the word, so long, and so quietly you can't even hear it! And THEN to top it all off, every ending to her words leaves a high pitched whistle in your ears! If you can google a youtube video of her you will see what I am saying. It is terribly horrible!
It is the strangest phenomenon the craziness surrounding and following this author. Is this seriously the best author these 5-star reviewers have ever heard or read? There has to be someone, something, better out there.
Please take the advice of the 1-star reviews, it isn't worth wasting your money on. Its all hype and nothing you havent heard before. Although you probably havent heard it written in such a strange melodic manner that's for sure!
