This is a very good book to help start your young one thinking about the true meaning of Easter. A very good book to use to get questions started. The illustrations are just a good as the story itself. I love Lisa's books, they are wonderfully written just geared to children.

Here is another children's book by an amazing children's author. I have been reading her books to my children for years. This new one of Lisa Tawn Bergren's is another must read! So, what did I like about this book? It seemed that with every page I turned another topic was handled with such grace and simple answers. Lisa tackled topics like the Easter Bunny (which my little one's have just discovered is Daddy), what an Easter egg represents, death and letting go of things so we can welcome better into our lives. I love the way the questions are asked by Little Cub and answered by Papa Bear. Lets be honest kids are FULL of questions.

God Gave Us Easter by Lisa Tawn Bergren and Laura J. Bryant is a great children’s book which helps to explain to a young child, in a very easy to understand way, something that could be confusing and hard to explain for some. The story is told by Papa Bear - a father polar bear - to his young cub, Little Cub, and very clearly shares about Jesus and what Easter is all about. It compares an Easter egg to the opening of the tomb and Jesus coming out; explains how families have roots by comparing it to a dead tree trunk they come upon during a walk; and explains how things that die leave behind life in their seeds. It answers simple questions that only children can think to ask. I think my favorite part is where Papa Bear explains to Little Cub how he listens for Jesus through his heart, then Little Cub tries to do the same thing, and later that day, actually feels Jesus presence in her heart too. It is definitely a warm and fuzzy book that children will love to hear and look at again and again. The artwork is wonderful also with great colors and scenes from cover to cover. I would highly recommend this as a great Easter basket gift … something a child could have and one day share with their own child.
