Customer Reviews for Hendrickson Publishers The Englishman's Hebrew Concordance of the Old Testament

Hendrickson Publishers The Englishman's Hebrew Concordance of the Old Testament

This concordance is an improved edition of The Englishman's Hebrew and Chaldee Concordance of the OT, the standard reference work first issued in 1843. Every Hebrew and Aramaic word of the OT is listed in Hebrew and alphabetical order, along with a brief rendering in English of every verse in the OT in which that Hebrew or Aramaic word appears. Each word is coded to Strong's, thus allowing even those who do not know Hebrew the opportunity to use this work.

Everything from the content to the cover design is excellent. This has better opaque paper than is used in most Bibles.

This little concordance has been extremely helpful in my Hebrew/OT studies. As a student, inexpensive is a requirement for non-textbook purchases, and this concordance is helpful and useful while being more than affordable.

A very good concordance, and excellent help when studying words and where they are translated in different ways. You really need the Hebrew and the Greek versions to study the whole Bible.

It is wonderful to be able to easily find all the passages where a certain Hebrew word is used. There is much richness in God's word. This can be done easily by those that have access to computers, but to the few that do not have access to computers, this is invaluable. May God bless it's use.

A very helpful linguist tool used to help find the correct Hebrew word the New Testament Greek word was translated from, for a more complete view of the B'rit Chadasha.

I use Wigram's concordance nearly every day and find it superior to all other concordances. It is alphabetical by Hebrew and its breakdown of root words by the 7 verb types (as applicable) is great. It immediately allows me to see attestations. Further, under each verb type it breaks down occurrences by past, future, infinitive, imperative, and participle. For someone doing a lot of work in Biblical Hebrew, Wigram's is irreplaceable. BTW, in the back is also an excellent dictionary by English words, that gives the possible equivalent Hebrew root words to use. Great.

My wife got Wigram for me for Christmas one year. I really hadn't had the time or knowledge to exegete much of the Old Testament. I took Biblical Hebrew my senior year in Bible college. After struggling through a while I decided I would see what Wigram was all about. WOW. I showed my professor how easy it makes Hebrew by providing nearly instant access to BDB pages and even the columns. It was instantly placed on his banned book list for use on homework.

This is a really neat concordance. It is coded to strongs numbers and for most words gives the tense or stem of the hebrew word. For instance if you look up a word it will tell you if it appears in the Qal, Niphil, and etc. Overall a great collection to any library
