If your ministry is struggling to reach people in your community with the gospel this resource can help. The book is written in a simple format to teach, train and motivate the readers to follow Christ into their workplace. The author explains Colossians 4:2-6 to instruct and challenge the readers to use their opportunities at work to further the gospel in people's lives. His emphasis is "your job is your ministry" and "your ministry is your job".

I would suggest you use this book as a teaching and training tool in your small groups, Bible studies or other venues. It will be a refresher course for your mature believers and a tremendous help for those just starting to share their faith with others. If you are looking for a resource to help you equip your congregation for ministry then I would suggest you pick up a copy today and begin implementing it into your discipleship process. It has been reported that only 3% of our churches in North America are growing by conversion rate. If this is anywhere near correct we have a challenge that must be met. This book can serve as a tool to help.

The author is good to walk the reader through the process as he grounds his statements in scripture. His explanations and examples are clear, concise and compelling. At the close of each chapter the author summaries the content into "Key Points" to help us capture the information and put it into action. For instance at the end of chapter two, What Do We Pray For?, the author states

"When it comes to what to pray for in the workplace regarding evangelism, the Bible gives specifics. Pray for:

Opportunity--God has to open the door

Boldness--ask God for the courage that overcomes fear

    Safety--ask God for protection

Success--pray that the gospel will spread rapidly

Salvation--ask God to bring the lost to Himself.

We honor God in evangelism not just by talking to people about God but also by talking to God about people."

Kregel graciously provided me with a copy of this book for free in exchange for my unbiased review. It was well worth the read!

    R. Larry Moyer in his new book, "Show Me How to Share Christ In The WorkplaceShow Me How to Share Christ In The Workplace" part of the Show Me How Series published by Kregel Publications communicates the motivation and principles that enable everyone to share the gospel.

From the back cover: Many Christians believe that ministry is practiced only by pastors, preachers and teachers. But did you know you are in full-time ministry, too? No matter where you work—in an office, out of your home, or on the road—you have the unique opportunities every day to share the gospel. Taking advantage of these opportunities may be easier than you think.

Continuing his popular Show Me How series, expert evangelist R. Larry Moyer has written a practical guide for sharing Christ in the workplace. Step by step, Moyer shows what it really means to pray, live, and speak as God directs. He outlines how to apply each at work and shows how to take advantage of public speaking opportunities to share the gospel.

Whether you are turning workplace conversations to spiritual matters, answering questions of unbelieving co-workers, or just performing your job as a representative of our Savior, "Show Me How to Share Christ in the Workplace" will encourage and equip you to present the gospel with clarity and simplicity.

We all work somewhere. Even stay-at-home moms work when they do their chores: grocery shopping, dry cleaners. Where we work is our evangelistic field. It is how we tend our field that needs training. Dr. Moyer to our rescue. Once we understand that we are the salt and light in our place of work, sometimes the only salt and light, then we get a new perspective on our place and what is expected of us. In seven parts Dr. Moyer breaks down into its component show how and what we should be doing. Each chapter ends with "Key Points" to help us focus on what we have learned. This book is a resource that will be used over and over again. I recommend this book highly.

Moyer believes, "Every committed Christian needs to recognize that he or she is in full-time ministry." (9) Whether you are a pastor or a plumber, all "who see Christ as their employer — all are in full-time ministry." (10)

This doesn't mean that you are slacking in your job. Your time is used in a God honoring way. The Bible is the place to find out how this is done.

Moyer turns to Colossians 4:2-6. He uses that passage to investigate evangelizing effectively in the workplace.

He explains how to turn conversations to spiritual things (plow and pursue) and present the gospel with clarity and simplicity. It begins with prayer, living in an atmosphere of prayer. He notes key points to pray for in the workplace. He shows how to explain sin to a non-Christian. He explains the gospel, what it means to believe, and where repentance fits in.

He covers how to help new believers grow, explaining how to turn believers into disciples.

Finally, he shows how all of this can be transferred to public speaking opportunities. He explains how to write your own testimony, giving you a method you can master. He gives ideas on how to feel more comfortable at public speaking and outlines what kinds of evangelistic messages leaders can give. He includes a sample message. (It's funny!)

Moyer reminds us that for us to share our faith, we must live as we should. Our life should be one of wisdom toward those who are unbelievers. "Live in such a way that you draw non-Christians closer to Jesus instead of turning them away from Him." (43) He describes what this looks like in the workplace.

This little book contains a wealth of information for any Christian in the workplace. The workplace is not merely a job; it's your ministry. If you want to lead another to Christ before you die but don't know how, this book makes it very clear.

Two types of Christians exist in the working world of taoday, those who use their work as a tool for ministry and those that simply work.

This book dives into many points. Included for the reader are what do we pray for, what is our message for non-Christians, how do you follow up, how to use your testimony as an evangelistic message and many more useful chapters and subchapters. Includes a special section entitled Resources for workplace leaders. All chapters have many subchapters and key pints at the end for self reflection and summary. This book incorporates many biblical passages and quotes that the author uses to strengthen the message that he is covering in detail. Highlighted also are others opportunities outside of work that others have incorporated.

As the reader I picked and chose the topics that most interested me and studied them more in detail. I feel this book can be a useful tool in dealing with situations not only in the workplace for which it is written, but possibly could be used for discussion and witnessing in other situstions ie: family gatherings, hair salons or perhaps when waiting in line somewhere. I do feel that caution should be exercised however when witnessing in certain jobs where talk on religion, and even politics can have devastating results. Interesting and well written 4 Stars!

Seeking to dispel the myth many Christians believe, that Ministry is just for pastors and other people who officially serve in the church or mission field, Moyer offers up a book that is based on the truth that every one of us is in full-time ministry too, no matter our job. The author shows readers how and why to pray, how to tell others about Jesus in clear terms, how to turn conversations to spiritual matters, or how we disciple those who turn to Christ. He also includes an appendix that demonstrates exactly how to walk someone through the steps to belief in Salvation in Jesus Christ.

"Show me how to Share Christ in the Workplace" is a wonderfully practical book that every Christian intent on spreading the gospel should commit to reading. At just under 200 pages, it is an easy read, and one that is written in a thoroughly understandable manner. The book is chock-full of scripture, covering topics of prayer and discipleship and evangelism by drawing upon the truth of God's word. I found the book to hold my interest from start to finish, even though I usually prefer to read fiction books, and I plan on implementing many of the suggestions in my own life. For people who can wonder exactly what to say when opportunities arise to talk about spiritual issues, this book will provide a good foundation to lead others to Jesus, as guided by the Holy Spirit in doing so.

I strongly recommend this book for believers from all walks of life, for those who have been Christians for many years and for new followers as well. Readers may choose to read the book on their own, or perhaps with an accountability partner or a small group of believers. All are sure to benefit from the wisdom contained in it's pages! 4 out of 5 stars.
