United and off on their honeymoon, Alex and Gabriel are determined to find Alex’s missing parents. Following paths, taking risks, and facing dangers not thought of, the two find their quest daunting. Foes are ever near, but friends appear when hope is lost.
This is a fast moving story with vivid characters, surprising action, and well researched to fit the historical background.
Jamie has written a wonderful conclusion to her series, destined to be read by many dreamers, who seek adventure, discovery, and especially the journey!

I found this a very enjoyable read. The story opens just before Alexandria and Gabriel’s wedding. I found it interesting some of the conversation between Alex and her attendant regarding the wedding night. But it plays into the storyline and a secret that Alex kept from Gabriel. I love the romance and the humor between Alex and Gabriel.
The storyline was different than anything I’ve read before. I enjoyed the adventure aspect of the story as Alex and Gabriel. The author did a great job as she told the story of weaving the characters thoughts and feelings. I enjoyed watching the development of faith in all the characters, but especially Gabriel as he dealt with his affliction.
I was a little surprised by the ending. Not what I expected, but that’s okay it was entertaining.
This is book 3 in a series and I didn’t read the previous ones. I felt fairly comfortable with following the story, though I think I would have enjoyed it even more had I read the others. Still an enjoyable story and I would read more by this author.

I did receive this book from the publisher through www.netgalley.com however, I’m only expected to give my honest opinion.

In my review of The Forgiven Duke I mentioned that while book one could be considered YA, book two and also book three had scenes that were not PG. Or even PG-13 for that matter.
Forgiven Duke ends with the wedding of Alexandria and Gabriel. Duke's Promise opens with the wedding night and Alexandria’s worries about what will happen that night and what might have happened that one night she was drugged. There’s plenty of affection.
And as with book two this final book in the series the adventure continues and the danger escalates. It’s not often that characters travel by balloon (only other one I can think of is Wisdom’s Kiss by Catherine Murdock) but Alex and Gabriel set off on quite the journey. I really enjoyed their travels and could imagine myself floating along with them and praying that lightning wouldn’t strike.
The ending was rather strange and I wish the solution to the mystery had been a bit more fully explained. Especially since up until the end the story didn’t seem too fantastical.
Overall Jamie Carie did an excellent job writing an action packed series that smoothly blends the characters’ spiritual journeys. Just wish the romance had been toned down a bit in the last two books.
Disclosure: I received this book for free from the publisher through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

A DUKE'S PROMISE by Jamie Carie is an wonderful historical romance set which begins in England and continues throughout France and Italy. It is book #3 in the "A Forgotten Castles" series, but can be read as a stand alone. See,"The Guardian Duke",and "The Forgiven Duke". Follow Alex and Gabriel on the conclusion of the "Forgotten Castles" as they navigate from England,to France and Italy on what is supposed to be their honeymoon, but where they actually search for her missing parents. It is fast paced, adventure filled, with twists and turns you will not see coming. While England,Spain, and France all want Alex's parents(treasure hunters) to discover what they believe to be a mass weapon of destruction,Alex and Gabriel must cross three countries, stay alive and out of harm's way as they try to save the "Featherstone's". This has been an exciting series. It has faith, romance, love, forgiveness, danger, passion, discovery, healing, finding peace and contentment. A must read for anyone who enjoys historical romance,France,Italy, discoveries, and treasure hunting. A true treasure! Ms. Carie pulls her readers into her stories with engaging characters and intriguing plots. "A Duke's Promise" is a wonderful conclusion to the fascinating and intriguing story of finding oneself, discovering true love, learning the true nature of one's parents. The story's entire premise of a great revelation from the past was a let-down. The music/sound/light component was interesting at first, but didn't deliver. Disappointing.

Jamie Carle creates beautiful scenic pictures in her novels, and A Dukes Promise is an excellent example of that. The Duke and Alexandria travel across Europe to locate her parents in an attempt to save them. A Duke’s Promise is the final book in the Forgotten Castle trilogy, wrapping up the story beautifully. Read the three novels in order for the most enjoyment. I recommend this for those who enjoy clean romances with a suspenseful side, along with such beautiful word pictures that I had to keep Google-ing the sites so that I could see if they were correctly described…and they were.

Book three starts off right where book two leaves off. Alex and Gabriel’s wedding. We start with the wedding night and Alex’s deep secret comes to light and threatens to ruin the very new marriage. Once that issue is dealt with they head off on their honeymoon to Paris and then on to Italy to hopefully find Alex’s parents. Of course they are met with danger along the way. Once they get to Italy they find out that they are in more danger then they realize and must work together and against the clock to save her parents and themselves.
This book wraps up the story of Gabriel and Alex. I enjoyed it over all and was a little sad to see the adventure end but happy with the ending.
What I liked: I liked that Alex seemed to grow up a little more in this book. In book one and even in book two she seemed quite young and immature. In this book she seemed a little more like a lady but she still had her spunk. I also liked getting to know her parents a little after reading about them some in the first two books. Though they where not quite what I expected.
What I did not like: The main story line of this book had to do with finding Alex’s parents and finding the manuscript. I don’t want to give away the ending but it was a little weird. It was not so much what they found but what it did when they found it. I kind of scratched my head a little because I had trouble imagining what I was reading which made it harder for me to get. I also still feel the whole hearing loss that Gabriel had was weird and how it played into the final climax of this book was even weirder.
Over all though I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed seeing Alex and Gabriel as a couple and how they worked together. They where a little much in the romance department at times but they where newlyweds in the book. Definitely a series worth reading if you like historical fiction.

Product Description (from CBD):
From the Land of Fire and Ice back to England's shores, Alexandria Featherstone finds herself the new Duchess of St. Easton. Her husband has promised a wedding trip to take them to the place where her imperiled parents were last seen, Italy and the marble caves of Carrara, but a powerful Italian duke plots against Alex and her treasure-hunting parents.
My Thoughts:
I have really enjoyed this whole series from Jamie Carie. She is a new author to me and I've loved her writing and her unique characters.
This book, the 3rd in the series, was my favorite so far. It was imagination, history, romance and adventure all rolled up into one full story. The characters are constantly running and the scenes are changing yet the author manages to make it all work well together. You feel fully involved in the story as the author brings resolution to the many challenges presented in these characters lives.
Alexandria and her husband continue to learn new things about themselves, about their relationships with God and their marriage together. I enjoyed going on this incredible journey with them!

The conclusion--finally!
More drama and adventure awaits Alex and Gabe, newly married as they continue their search for her parents.
I found this book to be darker in content, and I would issue a PG-13 warning as well, ther were also what I consider to be more fantastical themes (more seeing colors and so on). Not a book that I would let younger teens read.
I loved how this book had so much action in it, balloon transportation, narrow escapes and more! Fast paced, I believe I read this book in less than a day.
It was so great to finally know what had happened to Alexandria's parents, and their backstory. And how because of everything Alex was finally able to have a better relatioship with her parents.
This book's "fantastical themes" were even more pronounced and I'm still not honestly sure what to make of Gabe's seeing colored lights when there are sounds.
Overall, I will say that it was great to finally finish this saga, and find out what was going on. But on the other hand, this book was darker and had PG-13 explicit scenes. Yet there was tons of actions, and I couldn't put this book down. I'm not sure that I can totally pin down my feelings for this book, but I do think that people should at least be warned about some of the elements in this book. And in some ways this book felt a bit steam-punk, so it wasn't exactly what I normally would read. But I found that I enjoyed the adventure, and was hanging onto the edge of my seat :)
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!

A Duke’s Promise brings the conclusion of the Forgotten Castles Series. After Alex and Gabriel marry it appears to all that they are going on their honeymoon; however, they are continuing on the quest to find Alex’s parents.
This quest takes them from England to France and finally into Italy. The action in this story never seems to stop. Enjoy this tale as Alex and Gabriel venture to locate Alex’s parents.
