Zondervan Biblical Greek: A Compact Guide

Lugging around one's Greek grammar for an entire year is enough. Just ask anyone who has taken Greek and they'll agree. Yet, no one can reliably remember an entire year of instruction. There must be a better way. Biblical Greek: A Compact Guide is that better way. It provides a comprehensive presentation of Mounce's full first-year grammar, including tense and morphological charts, and color-coded lexicon. Moreover, it comes designed specifically for portability (fits easily in pockets) and for durability (thickly laminated cover).

Greek does not come entirely natural to most of us. Even the late scholar, Robert W. Funk, the translator/reviser of the incredibly detailed Blass-Debrunner grammar, in the beginniing of his own "Beginning-Intermediate Grammar" descrbed his own need to typically have to review this or that element of biblical Greek when looking at a text. A compendium of basic grammatical and other information is a valuable thing and this is it.

For those of you who studied Mounce's "Basics of Biblical Greek," you will enjoy this text - it's exactly what I was looking for. It's a pocket size book with most of the contents of BBG condensed into a small, easy to read, and accessible reference grammar. Mounce's charts and paradigms from BBG reappear in this text, including his chart of tense forms. This compact guide has a lexicon which is colour coded which indicates words that appear fifty times or more in the NT. The book does not include an index, but you can easily find what you're looking for in the Table of Contents. Highly recommended only if you don't want to lug around BBG.
