Thomas Nelson Getting Ready for Marriage Workbook

Getting Ready for Marriage, by Jerry D. Hardin and Dianne C. Sloan is a comprehensive workbook designed to help couples prepare for marriage. Through interactive exercises, couples discover the roots of their beliefs and values, recognize potential problem areas, and develop skills for working through difficulties. Couples are then encouraged to make their own covenants in specific areas such as financial matters, conflict resolution, religious orientation, and family planning and childrearing -- essential for building a strong marriage partnership. This marriage preparation workbook is also a helpful resource tool for pastors as well as pre-marital and marital counselors.

My husband and I read a TON of books before we got married, and this one was by far the most practical. We've been married for six years, and I am so glad to have found the book again. I'm purchasing a copy for my little sister who's getting married next year!

This is an awesome book. The exercises are fun. My fiance and I both have them and work on them together over. I look forward to each time we use them and feel like we have found out little things about each other that we just didn't know. If your engaged get it. It's so worth it.

We used this book more than 15 years ago and it spurred hours of conversation in areas we didn't even think needed discussion. It gave us a great foundation for problem solving over the years along with an understanding of why we do what we do. We continue to recommend it to couples whenever the opportunity arises.

As a counselor I have used this book for a dating manual on how to get to know the person you are dating---even before marriage is a question. It gives information on things to discuss in order to know each other. I would like the book retitled: Knowing the person your dating---before marriage becomes an issue!!I have used it for dating conversation training, pre-marriage counseling, engagement gifts, and help for young marriages in communication problems.

I have given this book to dozens of to-be marrieds and newly-weds. It is very hands-on. I love the parts where he fills in blanks about how she would answer and she does how he would answer. My husband and I took the surveys after 20 years and learned new things about each other.
