Zondervan Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Biblical Doctrine - eBook

The Christian church has a long tradition of systematic theology, that is, studying theology and doctrine organized around fairly standard categories such as the Word of God, redemption, and Jesus Christ. This introductory textbook on systematic theology has several distinctive features:
  • A strong emphasis on the scriptural basis for each doctrine and teaching
  • Clear writing, with technical terms kept to a minimum
  • A contemporary approach, treating subjects of special interest to the church today
  • A friendly tone, appealing to the emotions and the spirit as well as the intellect
  • Frequent application to life
  • Resources for worship with each chapter
  • Bibliographies with each chapter that cross-reference subjects to a wide range of other systematic theologies

Easy to read and at the same time a detailed explanation of the various viewpoints of biblical scholars. I haven't changed any of my positions since reading this book, but I have shifted into a more biblical stance on some and have grown in knowledge and understanding in others.

This book is a treasured resource on all topics of theology.
As the title suggests, the author systematically explains theology from all protectiveness concluding with his own opinion. God has given this man great insight and the ability to communicate his understanding.

There are many Systematic Theology's books on the market that fits anyone fancy, or religion. As many know, if your theology is wrong, your doctrine is wrong, because doctrine is based on theology. I have four or five theology books for comparison. My all time favorite is Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology. For this reason I ordered his Introduction to Doctrine. His books are clear and concise, easy to read and understand. His books have cleared my mind of many questions. To become better equip in the knowledge of God, there are no better books to own.

This very in-depth book has 57 chapters on Scripture, God Himself, Christ, man, redemption, the Church, and the Future. You don't have to be a Theologian to understand it. The print is a decent size. My husband enjoys just reading through it for better over-all understanding and it is a good reference book for the classes I teach. I find Wayne Grudem to be a great writer.

The is one of the best introductory systematics. Wayne has a knack for simplifying Bible truths without diluting them. Not only can this systematic be used in the classroom, it can also be used for ones devotion. He applies Biblical truth throughout the book. Though I don't personally agree with some of his positions, I still highly recommend this work.

Grudem's Systematic Theology is well worth the money spent. He does a good job in most areas he covers. The chapter on creation was not an accurate biblical presentation. Likewise, his chapter on tongues and prophecy needs a little work. Other than these two problematic areas I recommend it find its way into all theologians library.

Grudem's systematic theology tome presents a Reformed perspective on the essential doctrines of the Christian faith. I recommend Millard Erickson's "Christian Theology" instead of Grudem's ST. Erickson includes multiple perspectives and positions from different church traditions before presenting the position he thinks is most true to scripture. Plus he explores the philosophical underpinnings of thought in great depth. Erickson is more academically oriented, but well within the reach of anyone looking to delve into these essential -ologies.

I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone interested in pursuing a study of systematic theology. It's accessible in its language, conservative in its views and sweet spirited in its presentation. The cross reference with other systematic theologies allows one to hear about as many other voices on a given subject as one would care to, and the hymns at the end of each section help to keep one's study in a proper perspective. I've continued to enjoy and benefit from the use of this volume, and I think many others might, also.

I am quite new to theology. Even so I find Wayne Grudem's systematic theology easy to understand. He also summarizes other viewpoints well most of the time. This book should be in every christian's home whether they are of the reformed view or not.

Dr Grudem does a wonderful job of introducing the subject and immediately explains why an organized approach to the Bible should be part of our witness. He does not use technical words without first explaining what they mean.
The packaging on the order was not adequate as there was some folding on the pages of one of the books.

I highly recommend Wayne Grudems Systematic Theology to everyone interested in getting a grasp on the basics of theology. I do not agree 100% with everything Wayne Grudem writes (and perhaps neither will you) but this is a fantastic basis to work from.

I have several systematic theology books in my personal library. They all have their particular contributions to the discipline. What I like about Grudem is that he is easy to read in regard to the different views on a subject, then he comes across with the view that he believes is correct. I also like the modern way he thinks through the issues. He often will use newer words for some of the subjects, and this is often very helpful for the reader. I recommend this to my Bible class, and many have bought it. For a one-volume Systematic Theology this is one of the best. I highly recommend it.
