I am approaching 50 years of age in January. I have recently been thrown into a situation that has caused me to question why I exist. This book I truly believe was an answer from God even though written by a woman and her own life events. I purchased this book at a yard sale for .25 while out with my sister looking for books to alter. I liked the title, so I thought oh I'll read this book before doing anything to it. It sat in my sisters car for about a month and then in my mothers car for another 3 weeks. I only pulled it out cause I needed to clean her car out and get my suitcase. I started reading it that day. WOW! Every word seemed to touch on everything I was feeling and going through. Of course I know it wasn't, but I feel this book was written just for me. I recommend this book to every woman who wants to know their purpose in this life. It is inspiring and uplifting to my soul and spirit which has been dry for so long. Thank you Carol Kent for this gift you have been given. Thank you for helping me on my journey back to myself and most of all my journey back to my God. You are a blessing on this earth. In 1997 I suffered from severe anxiety due to a failing marriage, stress with children, and over-committed at church. Yes, I am a Pastor's wife that did NOT have it all together. I had expectations of my marriage, children and the church that left me defeated. During that difficult time in my life, I purchased Carol Kent's book, Secret Longings of the Heart (however, I got one of the first publications and it was entitled 'Secret Passions of the Christian Woman') and began reading it. This book transformed my thinking and my life. It has taken several years, but I am living a life of victory today! Praise God and a special "thank you" to Carol for her honesty that allowed her to reach down into her own pain and share from the heart how we can live as an over-comer instead of being paralyzed by our thoughts and/or circumstances.
