As a mom of now college age children (young adults!) I just wanted to review one of our favorite home school subjects.

My older kids started with the Apologia Botany book many years ago (K, 2nd, 4th grades). We were hooked on the notebooking (before it became so popular) and the multi-age level ability to use the text. I believe it was the one thing that made my children not only better artists, but lovers of observing nature. We then went through each of the Zoology books, and Astronomy. I then repeated this process with my younger child. We have been through the series twice. All four of my kids loved it!

Only more recently have I gone through the newer books in the series (Chem/Physics and Anatomy & Physiology) book with my younger son. I must say that these last two in the Young Explorer series are definitely geared more to a 5th-8th level. That being said, it is a great next step before they enter the upper level of sciences (which were always a giant step for my older children around 7/8th grade). We have had a blast doing the activities and gently becoming familiar with advanced terms and ideas. I believe this will be very beneficial to my younger child and the leap into upper science will not be such a daunting task.

I would say to moms who find this curriculum a challenge to remember that narration and making the activities fun will be remembered long after other details may be forgotten. Enjoy!

Did this Curriculum with my 6th grader who also has ADHD who struggles with reading comprehension. This book made her fall in love with science. The book is engaging and exciting to read. She loved all the experiments and also writing in the Journal. The best part is, do to a good mix of reading, journaling, and hands-on experiments, she retained so much she could hardly believe all she learned.

This is our first time using anything from Apologia. After 4 weeks and the first 2 Lessons/Chapters everyone (including me) still looks forward to doing science everyday. Retention has improved over other curriculums.

I'm using this specifically for my 9 and 11 year old, but my 5 and 7 year old are picking up many facts as well. I purchased separate notebooking journals for my 9 & 11 year old and am very happy that I did. They are well worth the money for the amount of time they save.

This was our first year using Apologia science. We ordered the Human Anatomy and Physiology text book and Notebooking Journal. I also ordered the Human Anatomy and Physiology Kit for experiments. My seventh grade daughter loved this science curriculum and I did too! Each day we looked forward to science. She especially enjoyed the experiments in "Try This". I highly recommend this book for homeschoolers looking for a way to explore anatomy and physiology in a "hands on" way that engages the learner without being too technical or difficult. My only negative comment is that there were no written tests included. However, the notebooking journal is a keepsake and reminder of all my daughter learned in this course.

I love this book and it's companion workbook (which I do recommend using, it's laid out like a lap book). I typically do not care for science, and I find that because of this I have a hard time presenting it in an exciting and fun way. At first it seemed that this would be way over my boys heads (grades 4 and 2) but they love it! We take it slow and only go through as much information as they can handle, so lesson one took us five sessions. The information can be a lot but the way it is explained combined with the note booking journal (I wish I would have used the junior journal for my fourth grader too) activities, and pictures help with retention. Now, I even get excited and can say I like Science! Also on a personal note, we have been studying Ancient Greece and Rome so when the book started talking about people from that time it really got their attention.
