I purchased this product after reading a review written by a mother who had children who previously hated language arts, but they actually liked language arts with this curriculum. I have a 4th grade son who dislikes language arts, but so far he has not gumbled with this curriculum. We are into our third week. Because the lessons are scripted in the teacher's book, this is a hands-on lesson for the teacher, but so far it has not been too time consuming. The lessons so far have not had a lot of exercise practice. I am used to more lesson practices, but maybe that is why my son does not grumble about it. It does do a good job of reviewing what was learned in previous lessons, and it does have grammar rules to memorize. I personally don't care for memory work, but I guess it is a necessary component. Overall, I like this product because it IS easy to teach, my son seems to like it, there is no prep work, and it is affordably priced.
