This story was a typical christian fiction novella-- it was pretty predictable with a satisfying ending. There was an overabundance of characters in the story, making it hard to keep track of everyone--it was also apparently difficult for the author to keep up with the characters, as she made numerous mistakes regarding who was married to whom, and she flip-flopped husband-and-wife pairings from time to time (for example, one woman married a man but later was supposedly living with his brother). The story took a little while to get going. The highlight of the story for me was not the romance between the two main characters but the fascinating world of herbal remedies during that time period. Overall, the story was fair but not the best I've read of this author.
