As a Christian and avid Defender of the Faith, I must say that the consensus that the universe began at the big bang theory is widely accepted as the standard model for Cosmology and even among the leading Christian Scholars. Even one recommended by Paul in his step 4. Norman Geisler is an avid Defender of The Big Bang Theory because IT SUPPORTS Creation out of Nothin. The Big Bang theory shows a beginning, and if there is a beginning, there must be a cause.

Christian Science is not only Young-Earth Creationism. Men like William Lane Craig, Francis Schaefer, Hugh Ross, Norman Geisler, Frank Turek and others who are and have been on the frontlines of defending the Christian faith are all men who have advocated Big Bang Cosmology and defending the interpretation that the Earth could be more than 6000 years old by advocating that the universe is millions of years old. You don't have to compromise on the Doctrine of Creation to do so - so giving this book to your kids is not going to be preaching heresy or producing heretics.

Lastly, the Bible is the Written Word of God, but Creation is the Spoken Word of God (Psalm 19:1-2). The Scientific Evidence that shows the age of the universe and its beginning actually help to support the Biblical account of Creation.

So, Parents, don't shy away from getting this for your kids. It accords with the eveidence and the bible. Remember, to deny the scientific fact would make us seem like we are making God out to be deceitful because he wouldn't write something that says 1 thing and then create something that says another. The good news for us is that the Big Bang Theory is widely accepted as the standard model of Cosmology which a leading defender of the Faith will state in The Case for the Creator, normal edition. Additionally, the creation days in Genesis can very easily be accepted as long periods of time because of the use of the Hebrew word "Yam" in Scripture not just referring to a 24 hour days cycle, but a period of time.

Regardless, Please don't deny your kids this excellent equipping tool because there is an issue of interpretation concerning the issue of days in creation. This book is great in answering objections that skeptics pose because it deals specifically with the fact that the universe had a beginning and therefore needs a cause, the theory of evolution, the fine tuning of the universe which can't be the result of random chance, and uiltimately gives a great cumulative case for a creator.

This is an excellent book for emerging young adults and preteens. Written in a form that is easily understood and enjoyable, this book shares deep truths about the Christian faith. It can be very confusing in this day and age with all the conflicting messages -- from school, the media, and those around us. I would highly recommend this book to any young person (or older) who is seeking the truth about Christianity or wanting to know why they believe what they believe. This was my daughter's favorite in the series.

This book and the other two in the series are great for our homeschooled 6th grader but would apply very well to students in other settings.

Great apologetics and ideas on sharing their faith without embarrassment.

Here is what I recommend for everyone to make this "Creation Science" debate much easier.

Either take two courses on Biblical hermeneutics and Biblical exegesis or in the least read the following four books:

    1. How to Read a Book 1972 Adler

    2. Living By the Book: The Art and Science of Reading the Bible 2007 Hendricks

    3. How to Study the Bible:2009 John MacArthur

    4. A General Introduction to the Bible 1986 Giesler

(Woman love Kay Arthur and she has a book on Inductive Study but I have noticed many men like myself have trouble relating to woman authors.)

    5. Then reread The Bible

Now by applying hermeneutics and exegesis to The Bible it is kind of like being scientific.

The problems seem to occur when people turn to science first for answers and then try to apply their findings to the Scriptures.

    This seems to be where Strobel has gone wrong. Has original method worked well in leading him to Christ;

but, (you're gonna love this) he never evolved! I think he was so busy ministering to so many other people

and living in the limelight of a great book - that no one ever ministered to him and he never grew enough in his

Christianity to realize "trust not in your own understandings".

For example to take "the big bang" theory and then say oh yes that sounds like when God created the sun - huh?

And then go further to draw a scientific conclusion. (That's as crazy as the gap theory!)

Just as Christians should not try to pass themselves off as scientists without the proper training,

scientists should not voice an opinion on young earth Christianity without spending at least 2 years studying at a Bible College.

We bought Strobel's 3 pack from CBD to use in our homeschooling of 3 children and returned them the same day

in exchange for Ken Ham Answers in Genesis materials. If we do not learn to stand on and defend our faith from

the first chapter, the rest of The Bible will eventually unravel as well.

So here is the simple answer that explains the scientific part - remembering that God is a God of balance as well.

God creates Adam from dirt and then pretend one hour later He creates a modern day intelligent doctor and gives him all the tools and other scientific assistants to determine the age of Adam and they say Adam is 18 when really Adam is only one hour old. OR God places some stars in the sky and one hour later He creates the hubbel telescope and a group of astronomers and astrologists and scientists and tools to determine how old those stars are and they say the stars are millions of years old even though they are really one hour old. Get it?

So even if you find emperical evidence supporting the appearance of an earth that is billions of years old, in its simplest form The Bible tells us the earth is less than 7000 years old.

Start with right worldview and most problems are diminished.
