Patricia Aiken5 Stars Out Of 5May 28, 2010Patricia AikenThis review was written for Sons of Encouragement Series, Volumes 1-5.I have personally read all five books through three different times. I glean more with each reading and find I catch more details about each man when I am reading through my Bible. Our ladies book club will be finishing the last of the men's books at our next meeting. I love their excitement as we gather to discuss what we have learned and our enjoyment of just reading these books. We have already finished the "The Lineage of Grace" series and now pondering where to go next.

Tina5 Stars Out Of 5Amazing and eye-openingAugust 2, 2018TinaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I highly recommend this book for those who are looking to understand the holiness of God and the importance of obedience to Him. This book helps paint a picture of how truly powerful the Lord is and how our lives are meant to glorify Him rather than ourselves. I will be having my teenage sons read this.

Chris Perrine5 Stars Out Of 5June 18, 2009Chris PerrineThis review was written for Sons of Encouragement Series, Volumes 1-5.I have only read 3 of these books so far & The Prince was outstanding so true to scripture, it makes you fall in love with the scriptures & God as its author. You will fall in love w/Jonathan & David & understand why Saul kingdom fell apart. The Prophet was also very well done. Francine Rivers research & putting it into word makes the book of Amos come alive in language you can understand. It is such a good picture of what the prophets of old must have gone through in being faithful to dispense what God had told them. The Warrior on the other hand was a little depressing. Not because of her writing but because of the subject matter & the continuous rebellion of the Israelites (hmm, I wonder if that is what we may look like to God today?) Though Joshua was a secondary character I do not agree w/her portrayal of Joshua. I do not see in scripture how she could come up w/him being wimpy. Still worth the read. I am looking forward to reading the last two. I love Rivers writing & keep looking for her to come out with more her books. I think I had read nearly all of her books within 1 1/2 yrs, I couldn't get enough.

sandra h5 Stars Out Of 5Incredible WorkJune 11, 2018sandra hQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Francine Rivers does a wonderful job weaving Truth into her fiction account of what these mens lives may have been like. She is clear up front, letting the reader know that they may address the Word for the succint, brief information that is actually given. I did go back a few times to check my understaning.
Throughout reading these stories, I was convicted in my own life; so while this is a novel of fiction, I believe that the way other scripture is embedded in her writing, the reader is afforded the opportunity to have his or her heart toward Jesus...which I also believe is at least part of Rivers goal. -
MarilynSan Diego, CAAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Five men of the Bible that inspire and encourageApril 7, 2012MarilynSan Diego, CAAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book highlights five men that are remarkable men of God but are not as well known by most of us. I love the fact that after each part there was a short study that took me back to the scriptures in the Bible where this event takes place. Before reading this book I did not know much about Amos. Now I don't think I would ever forget about how he suffered for following God.
