Useful for any writer

I consider this book a "must buy" for any writer, whether you are a beginner or advanced writer. You will find markets for your book proposal and your magazine articles. The subject guides are useful so you can find markets for reprints, poems, greeting card writing, etc. I buy this guide every other year, and bought my copy here, a great investment.

Do you enjoy writing? Are you looking to get published, but do not know where to start? Jerry B Jenkins book The Christian Writer’s Market Guide 2012 is a resource you must have. The book is organized in three parts: books, periodicals, and specialty markets. Each section begins by introducing common writing genres (e.g. historic fiction, theology, devotion, end times fictions, ect). During the first part of each section, it lists all the publishers which publish this particular genre of writing. Next, the book then lists every publisher alphabetically. After each listing of the publisher it gives contact information, pricing, whether they publisher freelance writings, ect. The Christian Writers Market Guide 2012 edition is an incredible tool. I have only had this book about a month and I have already been amazed by its usefulness. Within one month, I have already had two articles published. The results speak for themselves. I would highly recommend this book to anyone aspiring to be an author.

I had the opportunity to review The Christian Writer’s Market Guide 2012: Your Comprehensive Resource for Getting Published which is due to be released January 2012. What an amazing resource! I had no idea anything like this even existed! If you want to know anything about book publishers or periodical publishers…this is for you! This thing is JAM PACKED full of data! And did you notice who it is by? Mr. Jenkins…the same as the Left Behind series! The Jerry B. Jenkins Writers Guild acquired “Sally Stuart’s Christian Writers Market Guide” which has been in publication for 26 years.
One thing I really appreciated, as someone who didn’t even know something like this existed, is the beginning paragraphs of each chapter. Mr. Jenkins does an excellent – and most importantly, honest – job of explaining things in a way that newbies can understand. Also, for beginners, is the “How to Use this Book” section…a MUST READ for newbies like me!
This book tells you which publishers handle which markets, how they want to be contacted, what they want you to have already prepared, names, addresses, phone numbers, STATISTICS of what they’ve published, and SO MUCH MORE! It has a topical listing then they are listed alphabetically - which is a wonderful help…this way you find the ones who handle your “genre” and then look them up by name. It does this for both books and magazines…excellent! It then goes on to cover Specialty Markets…cards, mugs, shirts, etc. And they are all CHRISTIAN RELATED!
As another help, it lists Christian Writers Conferences and Workshops AND fellowship / critique groups by state – so again, very easy to find what you are looking for. And yet another amazingly wonderful thing for the newbie…there is a glossary. Oh how Mr. Jenkins thought of the person who has no clue! I love it. And…on the flip side…the “newbie” areas are so concise that it shouldn’t bother the more seasoned veterans to have the information before them.
In my opinion, at only $24.99 this is a MUST HAVE resource for ANYONE even slightly considering getting something published! I really am very impressed with this!

This is an extremely helpful book for anyone looking to be published. It includes the name of every Christian publishing company you can think of, and not just for books. It includes magazine, drama, and even greeting card publishers! Things are arranged by both topic (Fiction-Romance; Fiction-Historical; Non-fiction- Finance; etc.) and publisher (Bethany House, Tyndale, Whittaker, etc.). It also includes names of agencies and contests. My only complaint is that I found a few publishers included that I had believed had gone out of business. However, this book is definitely useful and sure to help any writer attempting to be published.

What do I think? Oh my goodness! If you are a writer this book is a must! As a newbie, learning all I can learn about the craft of writing, this book is just what I needed. This guide holds so much valuable information to lead writers in the right direction. It has listings for agents, publishers, editors and even writing teachers, which I found to be really amazing!
This is a book I will search through and pray over. I am already taking notes from this book. If your gift is writing and you are trying to publish your work, you need this valuable book. I am so thankful for Jerry Jenkins for putting this together for people like me just learning this craft.
It holds information on Magazine Publishers and even contests to enter. It is just jam packed with great information.
Here is a great example. Under Book Publishers you will find the name of Love Inspired. It gives their address, phone, and email. Websites and who to submit to and how to submit. You find information on royalties and advances. You will even see how long it will take for them to respond. That and much more!
I tell you, I don't think enough can be said about this book. It's a guide for every writers desk.
