Rose Publishing Rose Guide to the Temple

In the late afternoon sunlight, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem is one of the most breathtaking places in the world. This was the site of Solomon's great Temple, a "house of prayer for all people" - the center of worship and celebration.

For centuries it stood, until the Babylonians captured Jerusalem and destroyed the Jewish temple. The devastation was both physical and spiritual: the Temple was an awesome structure, but it was also the place of the Lord's presence with his people, the place of worship.

About seventy years later, the people returned to Jerusalem and built a second temple. It wasn't as spectacular as the original, and those who remembered Solomon's golden pillars, wept over the difference. Yet it was the house of God to the exiles who came home.

Some 300 years later, Herod the Great, one of the greatest builders in the ancient world, renovated and expanded the second Temple and made it famous, rivaling the finest monuments of that time. This is the temple where Jesus was dedicated as a baby, where he honored the widow for giving all she had, and where he threw out the money changers.

The Temple is important, both as a historical and architectural masterpiece, and as a spiritual symbol of God's desire to dwell with his people.

This full-color book gives a complete easy-to-understand overview of the history of the Temple in Jerusalem. People who enjoy Bible study will love the fact that it answers many questions about how the Temple looked during biblical times. Bible scholars and professors will enjoy the well-annotated text. The author is archaeologist and professor Dr. Randall Price. He has spent more than 30 years exploring the Holy Land studying the Temple.

This book has more than 100 images, charts, diagrams, photos, and illustrations, many of which have never published before. It covers the span of time from Abraham to modern day.

I am a student at Liberty University and I had the privilege of having Dr. Price as my professor for Old Testament Survey. Dr. Price is a genius; sometimes things that he says are too smart for me and go right over my head - but that is not the case in this book. The aesthetic appeal, complete with illustrations and pictures, makes the descriptions of the temple and its' history easily understood.
This book is not a light read! However, it is truly beneficial in understanding the things that were spoken about the temple in the Old Testament.
It's a great book! Informative, interesting, and pretty!

Dr. Price's Guide to the Temple is a wonderfully done book. On first look you will probably do what I did, which is just flip through the book looking at the marvelous pictures that really bring the Old Testament descriptions to life. The images are all very well done. A great amount of detail lies within each image and it really helps you get beyond just a written description and allows you to truly visualize that the temple and many other things, like the tent, looked like. For a visual person like me, this book is essential!
On second read through I began to actually look at the text and everything took on a whole new level of clarity. I had not ever realized the true significance of the temple in the Old Testament until I read through this book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning about the temple.

Dr. Price does an amazing job with the Rose Guide to the Temple. The book has many photos of the temple, which keeps it interesting. I highly recommend this book to whoever wishes to learn more about the Temple.
The book has "see inside" pages which allows the reader to "see inside" the temple. That is very interesting, and i can see what the Holy of Holies looked like. I recommend Dr. Price's book if you want to learn more about the Temple.

"Rose Guide to the Temple" is really a great and helpful book especially for the students. I find that it's detailed and colorful pages really bring the study of the Bible and the Temple to life. The words are big enough for anyone interested in reading it so as to not put stress on the eyes, and the pictures detailed enough to give the readers a strong sense of the realities in the Biblical times. I really enjoyed that the pictures didn't fall short of just illustrations but that actual pictures were also used. The fact that the pictures were "layered" and it allowed you to go beyond the outside appearance of the Temple was pretty amazing also.Overall I would strongly recommend this book to any student or anyone who wishes to study more into the Lord's Biblical creation of the Temple.

I really loved reading Dr. Price's book The Rose Guide To the Temple. I've always found things written about the Old Testament really boring but once I started reading this it was honestly very interesting and hard to put down once I started reading. I also really enjoyed the pictures in the book because they allowed me to imagine what it was like to live back in that time. I could really tell just by reading about the temples that Dr. Price had a passion and love for the Old Testament unlike any person I have ever met. I never realized how important the temples were back then until I started reading Dr. Prices' book. I can't express enough to family and friends how much I love this book! I hope that other people will be blessed by his book as much as I was.

"Rose Guide to the Temple" is refreshingly high quality work. There are many helpful pictures of actual artifacts and places, and sketches, which enhance the work. The book is entirely in color, giving it a much more modern feel and making it much more interesting to look through. My favorite feature of the book is the pictures with transparency overlays. This feature allows you to see what things look like on the outside, then turn the transparency page and look on the inside.
All in all, it's a great book. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in the temples. It is jam-packed with information, not a light read (but you'll be glad you did)!

The Rose Guide To The Temple book is a good book based on the temple of Jerusalem during biblical times. It gives a good overview with clear plastic overlays that help with picturing what the temple might have actually looked like during that historical time. Along with the diagrams there are descriptions what certain things are that were placed in the temple and what they stood for and symbolized so you had a better understanding of what was actually there. As a student of Dr. Price, I have thoroughly enjoyed his class, and I will keep this book as a reference to the Old Testament. I really encourage people to read it.
I would recommend this book for anyone who is a Biblical studies major or someone who just wants to review the historical part of the old testament. It is really informative with the diagrams, the overlays and descriptions, from the time of Abraham on into present day.

Dr. Randall Price’s book, Rose Guide to the Temple presents the Hebrew Temple of antiquity in a new light through its beautiful illustrations, neatly organized graphics, and colorful pages—allowing the Temple to come alive for the contemporary reader. Additionally, the book proves to be a valuable pedagogical tool, in that it exposes the reader to Dr. Price’s superior, yet easy to read, research and exploration of the Temple and its history. Ultimately, the Rose Guide to the Temple is wonderful physical aid that cultivates an appreciation for the history of the Hebrew Temple among its readers.
I learned several new truths from reading the Rose Guide to the Temple. For example, before I had read the book, I never fully grasped the centrality of the Temple in Scripture and how significant the Temple is in God’s plan to forever dwell among His people. I also learned that, although the Hebrew Temple is not physically present today, God promises a future and physical restoration of the Temple—a place where God’s people will minster His blessings to the subjects of the Millennial Kingdom. In essence, I learned about the Temple’s beauty, its exciting history, and the evidence for its previous existence at the Temple Mount.
The Rose Guide to the Temple is necessary read and ought to be on the shelf of every Bible teacher, seminary student, and layperson.

Dr. Randall Price’s book “Rose Guide to the Temple” is an great interactive way to learn about the temple in Jerusalem. I had the pleasure of not only reading this book but also having Dr. Price as my professor at Liberty University. Dr. Price’s teaching combined with “Rose Guide to the Temple” made for a very informative class. Unlike other traditional text books, “Rose Guide to the Temple” isn’t just full of boring text. Pictures, layouts of the temple, and large amounts of detail are also included.
Most people, myself included, don’t realize just how much detail has been revealed about life in the Old Testament and this book opened my eyes to it. From learning about the people back then to the structural layout of the temple this book covers everything in clear detail. Overall I would suggest this book to anyone interested in learning about the temple in Jerusalem.

Dr. Price's Rose Guide to the Temple is an excellent source for the college student. As a student myself who has used this book I can attest to such a statement. This guide has thoroughly laid out every detail there is to know about the temple. The book certainly brings to life the text that was once simply a prompting of the imagination.
I was able to read through the book with ease and yet uncovered new understanding of the Biblical concept of the temple. It is clear that Dr. Price has done thorough research that enables his presentation to be of such excellence. I had never before seen such a detailed pictorial of the temple and so it brought to life all of the Old Testament writings that included the temple. In addition, the guide gave me a better understanding of the presence of God on earth throughout history and how it changed with time and occurrences; including pre-temple sanctuaries, temple sanctuaries, and then post-temple sanctuaries. The guide also made clear the concept of priests in the Old Testament and the role they played.

The Rose Guide to the Temple is full of diagrams and descriptions of the temples throughout the ages. Often times I would find myself reading the Old Testament and feeling overwhelmed by the temple descriptions and offering explanations. With this book everything I was reading came to life! It's diagrams reveal an accurate appearance of the temples built in Bible times. It shows the pieces of clothing the priests wore and explains in words easily understandable to young and old alike all the parts of the temples and their purposes. Along with that Dr.Price writes about the history of the temples leading up to the one to come when Christ returns. He includes the history of the world around the temple leading to now. With this information it is clearly seen how accurate and true the Bible is. The best part about this book is that it's scriptural based. We can read it and know that the information inside is aligned with the Word and can be relied upon. This book is definitely worth reading!

“Rose Guide To The Temple” by Randall Price is an extraordinary beautiful and informative book written about the Jerusalem Temple. The Bible is a complex book that can often times be hard to understand. Dr. Price’s hard work and research is shown in this book. His colorful pictures portray what the Temple was like, and all different timelines make learning so much easier
I have had so much fun reading this book. It has different sections with so many different colorful maps and outlines that grab the readers attention right away. This book has cutaways that allow the reader to see what was on the outside and what could of been on the inside of the Temple. This book has helped me understand the Temple and the important artifacts from back then. It has really made some Bible stories easier to understand. I would 100% recommend this book to anyone.

Dr. Price brings a unique and personal perspective to his inclusive book about the tabernacle and the temples of the Bible. The book includes many exciting physical features. The many diagrams and paintings make it easy to pictures the temple as they may have been, and photographs of archeological evidence help support the history of the tabernacle and temple. The flip pages also enhance the book, making it easier to visualize the outside of the building as well as the placement of items on the inside of the buildings. The visual components of the Rose Guide to the Temple enhance and bring the information of the Bible to life.
Aside from the appearance, the guide provides in depth descriptions of every aspect of the temple, starting with the tabernacle moving through time to the future temple. Dr. Price’s extensive knowledge of the temple is portrayed through this book, yet he conveys this knowledge in a way that is easy enough to understand for college students and adults. This book makes an especially wonderfully companion to the Bible, as it expands the details given in the Bible, providing a better knowledge of the background to God’s word.

It covers pretty much anything you need to know about the Holy Temple, and it even mentions the question of a future temple in Jerusalem, which I know I am very curious to learn more about! This book is hands down, the best book on the Temple I have read!

This book is a fantastic resource for anyone, at any level. I am enrolled in a seminary course on “The Jewish Temple in History and Prophecy” and am immersed in scholarly material concerning the Temple. The benefits of Rose’s Guide to the Temple are two-fold: 1. Not only does it encapsulate and synthesize, the most important aspects of biblical Temple research, but it presents the pertinent material in an articulate, easy to understand manner. No digression into arcane, highly nuanced avenues of thought, just solid factual information on the Jewish Temple 2. The rich visual representations of the Temple are stellar! Having a resource that so vividly presents the Temple really serves to enhance what one can learn by reading. The over-lays are especially helpful for really “getting inside” the Temple. Overall, a fantastic book that is readily approachable for laymen and a sound scholarly basis for use by the student, pastor, and scholar alike.

I really enjoyed reading the Rose Guide to the Temple. It was very informative and interesting. I learned about God's plan for the temple and what "temple actually means. What interested me the most was learning about how the first temple was built and then how it was rebuilt. What was really intriguing was all the details that are known about the temple, the length and width, the placing of everything and how it was all supposed to look. What really helped me visualize the temple was the plastic overlays. They give you a view of what it looks like from the outside and then what it would look like on the inside. It was very cool being able so see all of that. Overall I've learned so much about God's plan and temple from this book. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interesting in the history of the temple or the Old Testament itself.
