I had to keep putting For Love of Eli by Loree Lough down. I just couldn’t keep reading it. I didn’t want it to end and the story to be finished!
Taylor, Eli’s aunt, and Reece, his uncle, vie for Eli’s love and affection. Reece blames Taylor’s brother for Eli’s mother’s death and so he distances himself from her.
Eli, wonderful four-year-old Eli, is a charmer to the nth degree. His insights and comments made me laugh — and cry — and laugh more.
Their story, as it is pieced together like the quilt Taylor is making for Eli, will keep you enthralled to the end.
I felt Loree cut the ending too short – I would have welcomed more detail after the denouement, but I still gave For Love of Eli 5 stars.

For Love of Eli by Loree Lough
This Quilt of Love series book is about a little boy Eli who has lost both of his parents and in the will he was granted to Taylor. She runs the Misty Wolf Inn in Blacksburg, VA.
His uncle, Reece also shares with some of the duties on weekends when he's not patching up kids as he is a pediatrician. The town itself I have visited once when I was 17 as my uncle and his family lived there and
he had taught at the Virginia Tech school. I did tour the college but we only stayed one weekend. Was happy to hear of the Plantation and next time I travel near there I will stop in to investigate.
Taylor is torn between men, Reece and a boarder who buys up the whole inn for his stay so he can come and go as he pleases and gets to spend time with Taylor.
Love hearing of the treasures she finds in the attic and how she can use things to help Eli remember his parents..
Traditions and daily life for Eli are routine, PRAYERS:at meals and bedtime and when sick and dying. They will celebrate his birthday this year on July 4 with parades, fireworks and a party....but tragedies occur ...
Love that while making the quilt she puts it on the ground to see it from that vantage point-I've often done the same thing, knowing something was missing and hard to pin down what it was. Glad she found her answer.
Excerpt from Threads of HOpe the next in the series a sample chapter is included at the end.
I received this book from Abingdon Press in exchange for my honest review.

*For the Love of Eli: Quilt of Love Series by Loree Lough
Eli is an adorable, fun-loving, typical mischievous 5 year old boy whose father, Eliot is killed while serving a tour of duty in Afghanistan and his mother, Margo dies in an accident not long after. Surprisingly Margo has stated that Eliot’s sister, Taylor Bradley, who owns/operates an inn, Misty Wolf in Blacksburg, Virginia is to have custody of Eli if anything happens to her. Margo's brother, Pediatrician Reese Montgomery is not happy with this at all, he was expecting to have custody of Eli. Reese blames Eliot for his sister's death and has been angry with Taylor ever since. But Reese is again surprised when Taylor suggests they both share custody of Eli, with Eli spending every other weekend with his uncle.
Eli struggles with the death of his parents, his grief and adjusting to living with his Aunt Taylor, if that is not enough, his best friend is sick, cannot walk and is frequently in the hospital. He is saddened that he has nothing to cherish of his parents. While going through an old trunk in the attic of the inn, Taylor finds a letter from her mother written to her when she was 7 along with quilt pieces for a forgotten unfinished quilt her mother started for her long ago. She decides to use the quilt pieces along with some fabric from Eli's parents clothing and make a memory quilt to help Eli remember his parents. Reese is bitter and struggles to forgive and finally seeks God for answers that can lead to healing. Taylor has griefs and struggles of her own, but relies on God for strength and guidance.
Eli is bubbly most of the time and those around him cannot help but be drawn into his joy. As he adjusts to his new home, his Aunt and Uncle are drawn to each other. Can there be healing for them as they turn to God for that healing and in their love for Eli?
Another great book by Loree Lough! A wonderful story about how life can change in an instant, bring loss, tragedy, heartache; the importance to cling to the love of family and to cherish them, and the love of God can bring healing, peace and joy. I enjoyed this book so much, love Eli and his spirit despite all he has gone through in his young life.

I loved this one--4.5 thumbs UP! Way to go, Loree Lough!
You take your average countrified childless widow, one jilted uncle/pediatrician, and one small orphan that both of them love to distraction, and it adds up to quite a stew.
Eli (the small orphan) has had more tragedy than most people experience in a lifetime. First his dad is killed in Afganistan. Then his mom dies. And his best friend can't walk and gets sick way too easy.
The will says Aunt Taylor has custody of Eli, and Uncle Reese is totally unhappy with that decision. He's mad at her even though she's the one who suggests he should get Eli every other weekend. Even though she shares the time with Eli and even invites him to join them for meals and events. Even though she's smart and pretty and generous and sweet. Sweet smelling, too.
And then there's this famous country-western singer who's hanging around way too much at Taylor's bed-and-breakfast. Reese doesn't like that, either.
Hmm. I wonder what's happening here? Wanta find out? Maybe you should buy a copy, what do you think?

Loree Lough in her new book, “For Love Of Eli” Book Four in the Quilts of Love Series published by Abingdon Press brings us into the lives of Reece Montgomery and Taylor Bradley.
From the back cover: Can pieces of the past bring healing and forgiveness?
When unspeakable tragedy leaves young Eli an orphan, two families are devastated. But Taylor, Eli’s aunt and legal guardian, vows to help him remember his parents by creating a Memory Quilt. As she begins piecing together the moments of his parents’ lives, the story of the young family emerges and Taylor and Eli begin to heal.
But Eli’s uncle Reece is slow to let go of the past and still blames Taylor’s brother for his sister’s death. So, although he has long been attracted to Taylor, Reece keeps a safe distance away. Can their shared love for Eli pave the way to forgiveness or will Taylor and Reece be separated by pain?
I am very impressed with Loree Lough as a writer. No matter what genre she is writing in, mystery/suspense or family drama she always does a superb job. “For Love Of Eli” is no exception. This is a story that is all about family and about taking care of a darling little boy by his Aunt and Uncle on each side of his parents. Reece has a problem with grief, guilt and false responsibility. Not being able to come to terms with them is hampering his life and preventing him from moving forward and for receiving the true love that God has for him. It takes God to get him to be healed from his pain and to move forward with Taylor and Eli. Ms. Lough has managed to weave the romance between Reece and Taylor in such a way that it just captivates you. She makes you care for all the characters and their journey. This is also just plain fun and exciting as well. Don’t start this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you won’t want to give them up.

Loree Lough crafts a beautiful story of sacrifice and love in For Love of Eli. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book and these characters. I was touched by this story of Eli and the two care givers that love him and want the very best for him. Taylor is a wonderful lady, almost too wonderful but not quite, who truly wants Eli to have the best relationship with his Uncle Reece as possible. Uncle Reece on the other hand is pretty bitter at how things worked out and his one soft spot is Eli. He would do anything for Eli. Taylor and Reece's shared love for Eli becomes their bond but is it enough to bring them together. As Taylor crafts a quilt for Eli with pieces of his past, the future is being knit together. It is really a precious story that I really enjoyed reading.

"You should be thanking God that you have these things to help you remember your loved ones."
How true this wisdom was coming from 4-year-old Eli who had already dealt with handling the loss of both his parents. Now if only Taylor could come to terms with her own grief and finally look in the attic where the memories of her family lay waiting to be discovered. After opening the trunk her mother had left for her, she discovered a box at the bottom with a letter that was written by her mother when she was 7 years old. Inside the box lay scraps of fabric her mother had hoped to turn into a memory quilt but died before she had the chance. Yet poor Eli didn't have much to remember either of his parents as his mother had gotten rid of most of their personal affects before she died.
Taylor had been appointed as Eli's guardian by his mother and as his aunt she wants to do something for his birthday to help him keep the love of his parents close to his heart. He spends his time helping Taylor with running the Misty Wolf Inn, a quaint Bed and Breakfast with a few horses for the guest enjoyment. Taylor alternates weekends and holidays with Eli's Uncle Reece, a pediatrician who is still having a hard time coming to grips with the fact he didn't see the signs of depression in his sister until it was too late. Now he spends his time second guessing every probable circumstance that could go wrong to make sure nothing happens to Eli. However no matter how much animosity he has for Taylor, it's her charming ways of making him feel cared for that is slowly melting his ice cold heart. Hopefully he will realize it before someone else does and whisks her away instead.
I received For Love of Eli by Loree Lough compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Allliance and Abingdon Press for my honest review. This is truly a story about healing and understanding that the process of grief is a long one and also one that never ends but gets easy to manage over time. Too many times all the "what if's" begin to surface when it seems as though we could have alleviated the issue or helped to prevent it from occurring in the first place. It goes to show some very heart felt emotions not only within the characters of Taylor and Reece but also in the child like faith of Eli, who truly is much older than he is on the inside. This is a great novel to share with anyone trying to get over something from the past and moving into the healing and forgiveness stage. I easily rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars! This is the fourth book in the Quilts of Love Series!
