Four Cups: God's Timeless Promises For A Life Of Fulfillment, written by Chris Hodges, is a book that strives to demonstrate to its readers that God has had a plan for their lives since the very beginning.

Life always seems to be found somewhere on the plane of interesting. There are many curves, many decisions and many opinions to be heard, thus making it, at times, difficult to understand what path to choose. This publication by Chris Hodges strives to help Christians choose the right path, the path that God had ordained for their lives from the very beginning.

The book begins by taking its readers on a journey back into the Old Testament, back to the point where the nation of Israel was enslaved in Egypt, back to the point where God makes four powerful promises to His people. These four promises are found in Exodus 6:6-7.

God promised His people that He would free them from their oppression, rescue them from slavery, redeem them with a powerful arm and great acts of judgment, and claim them as His own people. These are the promises to the nation of Israel, but they are also present for all Christians, for all people who call upon the name of The Lord, for all who are willing to be cleansed by the shed blood of Jesus.

Pastor Chris does a phenomenal job displaying the truth behind these promises for the nation of Israel, but he also carries their truth through time into our own lives today, helping us understand what they mean to us now, what they mean to our relationship with God.

This publication is a must read, as if brings about a deeper thought process, a deeper understanding of what it means to be a follower of God.

    FOUR CUPS

God's Timeless Promises for a Life of Fulfillment

    By Chris Hodges

The Four Cups is about the cups, the four promises, of the Passover meal that the Israelites ate the night before the Exodus from Egypt. The book discusses how these Four Cups continue to be important as God's promises to us in the New Testament.

    A quote from the book:

God wants to rescue you from bondage.

He wants to deliver you from whatever holds you back.

He wants you to discover his original intention for your life.

And he wants you to be a part of a family that makes a difference.

The Four Cups are the cup of sanctification, the cup of deliverance, the cup of redemption, and the cup of promises. Chris explains the promises and the freedom through Jesus Christ that God promises us. He devotes a chapter to each of the Four Cups and how they are needed today. He offers scripture verses and a prayer at the end of each chapter.

The book is not long and can be read is a short time, easy to understand and he offers in the last chapter, to church leaders and group leaders, a way to use the information for Bible studies or other worship services. I found the book to be very informative and worth the time to read and will make you stop and think about your walk with Jesus Christ.

Believing that God does have a plan for me is one of the main ways that I stay positive in life. He has a reason for all the good and bad that happens in our life. In this book I learned that the "cup of the Lord" is actually four cups, the cup of Sanctification, the cup of Deliverance, the cup of Redemption and the cup of Praise. These four cups reveal God's presence and promises and the author delves into the history and biblical significance of each of these promises. This is a quick read that left me uplifted and encouraged to follow my dreams and to focus on these promises that God has for all of us.

Can a book really make a difference? This one can.. I have become so tired of books and Christian authors who promise to show you only how to gain wealth, and prosperity with so much other useless, senseless topics added into their writings. No one seems to address the real things God has promised and is willing to give. This book will show you how to break free from bondage, and discover what God's purpose for your life really is.

The book is rich with Jewish history, which is fascinating for me being Jewish, and page after page is filled with stages of Faith. Want to discover the joy and hope that God has to offer? I know you can find that throughout this book. You will discover how to get back on the path that will lead you on your spiritual journey.

You will discover God's love and how to receive the joy he has to offer. I love when the author says that "discipleship is not about learning "more stuff" it's about finding and developing the reason why we were created in the first place". And then living it out. Powerful words. I highly recommend this book to anyone. Whether you are a solid Christian , a new beginner or someone who is looking for answers and needs God's love and guidence. The pages of this book can and will help anyone. A five star book guananteed to begin or renew your passion for Christ.

This book is going to bring so much clarity to so many. Pastor Chris Hodges does an amazing job presenting God's truth found in scripture and making it applicable to our lives. Not only applicable, but necessary for a meaningful, fulfilled life.

Pastor Hodges begins with a visit to the Old Testament where we find the nation of Israel enslaved to Egypt. It is there that God makes four promises to the Israelites: Rescue, Freedom, Redemption, and Fulfillment. Throughout the rest of the book Pastor Hodges walks us through God's plan for us through those four promises.

I think the most startling truth in this book is that Christians often get stuck in a cycle. We move from, "living in the truth of God's promises, to falling away into sin and bondage, to God's pursuit and rescue, to living in the truth of God's promises." Pastor Hodges details the value of moving from bondage to true freedom so that we might experience God's plan and purpose for our lives.

This book is so valuable to those new and old to the Christian faith. I recommend Four Cups to anyone, but especially those who are feeling stuck and without purpose. As Pastor Hodges states in the seventh chapter, many Christians allow, "...fear based procrastination," to keep them from, "living to the fullest." I can so relate to this!

I was given this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I have been given no compensation. All opinions are my own.
