Max Lucada brought the death and reserection alive in our living room. These 40 devotional style readings are written so that the whole family, from the very youngest to the oldest, can understand what Jesus sacrificed for our salvation. The other characters in the book are brought to life and portrayed so vividly you realize that so many times you have acted in the same manner toward Christ by questioning, running away, denying him out of fear, and with Mary, not recognizing him as we search for Him through our tears and anguish. Reading it as a family, we found that it evoked discussion and thoughtful meditation every day. We were sad when it came to an end

A true Max Lucado fan, I enjoy most of his books and his devotionals. They are not only insightful as mentioned by many, but they are accessible. Max writes for the everyday man and woman, and in On Calvary’s Hill, he takes the last weeks of Jesus’ life and presents it to where all of us – even those who are not so scholarly in Biblical wordings – can grasp it, get it and live it.
Great read.
