I have used the first 2 books with my mild special needs son (he has CAPD) and it has worked very well. Although it has not turned him into a prolific writer he can now write a coherent paper at least 6 paragraphs with arguing or tears.

Using baby steps, this program starts with instructions(book 1), sequencing life stories (book 2), exposition (book 3) and persuasive(book 4). Starting with capitalizing the first word in a sentence and then adding a comma after the introductory word, the series focuses on one skill per lesson. Take as long as you need to solidify the concept before going on to the next. No confusing graphic organizers, just follow the FNTF format to write a paragraph, then use this format to expand each sentence to a paragraph, add an introductory paragraph and a conclusion paragraph and the paper is complete.

I plan to use this series to teach my very creative writer daughter how to write a formal research paper this year.
