My only problem is some I don't have all of the tangram pieces needed to do all of the problems in the Saxon Math book.

Glad this product comes in a tote to contain it all. I was, however, disappointed with the fact that the tangram shapes where not the correct size to match the Saxon Math tangram shapes activities.

This product is only useful for K-2 grade. I started using Saxon for my 3rd grader and thought I needed to have this kit. I did not, many of the manipulatives are for younger students. This is a waste of money if you have not started with the Saxon program from the beginning. The kit would be an excellent benefit for k-2 grade students and well worth the cost.

Compared with other manipulatives, these are the best I've found. My three year old has run away with every part of it more the once and not managed to break anything. They are the right size for small hands and my boys love them

I found this to be very useful with my 4 and 5-yr-olds and my 7-yr-old too sometimes. I was pleasantly surprised to find it came in a clear plastic tote. I did not find the items to be overly cheap. I really like the bears and the clocks! The balance board is a little cheap but not so much that it is a problem, pretty much what I expected and it has some movable slides to make it balance properly-which sort of work. The locking blocks are really tight and can be difficult to use sometimes but I would rather they require a little more force than constantly be falling apart. These things are minor compared to how helpful everything is!

I'm a first time homeschooling mom of my 2nd grade twins. I did a lot of research on math programs, and I 'm so happy with my choice! The program is very well laid out and tells you exactly what to do..(literally word for word) That was something I was looking for. I wanted to make sure my children were not going to miss out on anything! I like the steady pace, and there is tons of review. It also teaches a lot of cool quick math tricks to do math in your head quickly! I would say that the only negative is the quality of the workbook paper, it's pretty flimsy. Other than that, I highly recommend Saxon Math. My plan is to continue with this curriculum all the way through their education. :)

I would very highly recommend this set for anyone teaching math to elementary school aged children. It's definitely worth every penny. It has been such an easy, convenient and fun way to help me make math come alive for my children. I haven't been homeschooling for long, but already we've experienced breakthroughs in my 7 year old's confidence and understanding of several concepts she hadn't quite grasped before in public school. It has made math time fun and engaging, and it makes life much easier for me to have these things so conveniently put together.

We are using this with the Kindergarten and grade 1 Saxon math curriculum's and it is great. My kids no longer reach for the TV when they get up, but instead I find them sitting at the table making shapes and measuring things on the scale! It really makes math come alive when the kids do hands-on!

We love the manipulatives kit. Even though some of the items are geared toward higher levels through Saxon, my kindergartener enjoys using everything. We're using it with Saxon Kindergarten program, but allow him to explore the scale and other pieces whenever he wants to.

I originally purchased this kit for my daughter, who is not math-oriented. It turned her from hating math to loving it and excitedly asking when we would "do math" again! That was years ago - she's now about to begin Saxon 6/5 and my son just completed Math 1. I can't say enough how wonderful the entire Saxon program is for Math!

I'm always making or looking for enough marbles/beans to count or use for examples Now everything we need is in one storage box! The other thing I noticed is everything looks pretty durable, I'm sure we'll get multiple years of use and still be able to pass it on.

At first I did not want to invest in the manipulative set I thought I would just use stuff from around the house and I really didn't want to spend the money...however I changed my mind and I am glad I did! It has really made "math time" fun! The boys enjoy seeing something different and are only allowed to use it during Math which makes it really special. There are several items included I've never seen anywhere else. And it's to use K-3 and by the time all of my boys go through it the price will be well worth it!

My kids (5, 3, 2) have really enjoyed the manipulatives. They have worked well because as I am doing the more "formal" activities with my 5 year old, there are usually enough of each (pattern blocks, linking blocks, teddy bears...) for the other two to be able to play and do simple sorting activities with. Makes math time go much easier. Delivery was fast and ordering smooth. The set was more expensive than I would have liked, but cheaper here than a couple of other places I have looked.

The manipulatives are a central part of the Saxon math program through grade three. (You can purchase the items separately as I did, since I already had some of them, but it's not much of a savings.)We are using Saxon 2 for my daughter and we use manipulatives in every lesson. If I had skipped the manipulatives there would be whole lessons and activities we couldn't do. Plus the lessons wouldn't be half as fun!

Although this is a comprehensive set, it is really not entirely necessary for Saxon Math 2. I wish I would have known that before paying, but, being new to homeschooling, I didn't know what was needed and what could be done without. This includes all supplies for k-2 which is overkill for Grade 2. I'd recommend it for someone in the lower grades as a help.
