I didn't find the early chapters helpful; in these she unravels her own painful, chaotic story. The timeline was confusing. However, later chapters included some very helpful material. I am glad I read the book and was encouraged by it's content!

I feel Dr Heche comes up very short in discussing how to make amends with a lesbian daughter. I myself am not lesbian, but I am a survivor of child sexual abuse, just like her Ann. The fact that she did not discuss addressing that very deep pain of Ann's tells me she seems to STILL have her head in the sand. How can she encourage parents to say, "I realize you must have had some serious pain to cause you to make this decision..." to their child and then not share her own experience? The whole book is about sharing her experiences, minus the most important one - mending her strained relationship with her daughter. Dr Heche did not share about how she apologized for not being there for Ann or protecting her from the pedophile father. I was left thinking that Ann was on her way to healing since she returned to heterosexuality - FAR from it. Do a Google search for Ann Heche and you'll see that she is still hurting very much. Yes, she had a change of heart about the homosexuals, but any decent mom would if it were their kid and they were such a bad mom. The truth shall set US free, ALL the Truth.

I'm about half way thru this book and it is AWESOME. It is truly inspiring and a great help. I'm really enjoying it. It's not just for homosexual issues. You can translate her healing to almost any issue. My mother grew up in Nancy's era and I'm finding explanations as to what made her the way she was. I love what she says about how she'll react to the homosexual community. She said she'll love and respect not compromise and agree. When I read that I thought to myself she gets it! That's what everyone wants and desires and that could be the key to their hearts and winning them to the Lord.We need to pray for Anne!Thank you,Monica
