Customer Reviews for Discovery House The New Pilgrim's Progress

Discovery House The New Pilgrim's Progress

This classic allegory of the Christian life offers as much encouragement to new and long-time believers today as it did when it was first published in 1678. But Bunyan's 17th-century English can be rough going for today's readers. In this revised edition, Dr. Wiersbe has translated outdated words and phrases into refreshing modern equivalents while retaining Bunyan's style and form. You'll also find fascinating and helpful footnotes to Bunyan's life, culture, and theological perspective. 217 pages, paper from Discovery.

Very well done! I gave a copy to my 10 year old grandson. He read it for 40 minutes per day until he finished it. He told me he liked it a lot. If a 10 year old can read it and enjoy it, I think that is all the review you need.

This book was just the right mix of conviction and encouragement!! The only problem I had was how distant God seemed on Pilgrim's journey.

Wiersbe never disappoints! The language is up-to-date, but true to Bunyan. The notes are so well done and a great help in better grasping all of Bunyan's truths! Get this one!!!

I have browsed many editions of Pilgrims Progress and this is a very good edition. The notes are extremely helpful, both biblical context and the historical background of the author. The plain language as opposed to the KJ makes it simple to read. I purchased the Little Pilgrim for my niece and we plan to read and discuss together.
