Cannot recommend this book for a child. The letter written by Dr. Jekyll gets pretty evil during the last 2 chapters. My son, almost 11, did not want to read it. I went over it quickly with him to see how the story ended, not a happy ending, suicide discussed, drugs. I had to tell my son that there are no drugs that exist that can physically change a person's body like in the story. He thought a kid could get nightmares from it. This story's content is definitely more for high school level. There are some references about asking God for forgiveness, but the story's content is still for an older student.
