I was really excited when I ordered the surprise pack. When it arrived in the mail and I opened it with my children (ages 7,4 and 15 months) we were all more then a little disappointed. Mostly everything in the box was meant for a much older child/teen girl. I think the idea of a surprise box is wonderful. It would be even better if you could choose age and gender you are ordering for. Until then I will not be ordering another one.

Overall I am happy with this purchase. The items in the box were not worth over 85.00, but were well worth the 9.99 I paid. A few of the items were not for children and were books for parents. There was one book I tossed because it was halloween book and we do not do halloween in my house. Other than that It did have some good things I will be able to use for my sunday school gifts. There were two Bible DVDS, some silly bands, a good slection of books and family conversation blow up balls. I will be purchasing this again. I will serve my purpose. I can alwyas us the books that were not for kids as gifts.

I have to say I was a little disappointed.I was hoping to use the items as stocking stuffers for my 10 and 11 year old girls.What arrived though was mostly books and all the items were for preschoolers and for adults.

I purchased this to split between my kids as stocking stuffers, and it ended up being perfect for that need. My kids range in age between 1 and 10 years old, and there was something for each of them. With the exception of one book, all of the items were gender neutral. It worked out perfectly, however, that my 10 year old is a girl and it was a book for girls age 9-12. The items spanned the entire age range, and fortunately my kids are evenly spaced so there was nothing that wasn't age appropriate for at least one of them. There was also a great book for me! I know a lot of people feel cheated because the items in the box do not really add up to the promised price of $80 given that they are almost entirely clearance or close out items, but when you consider that you are paying less than a dollar a piece for them it is still a tremendous value.

I just received my first ever mystery box... but it will not be my last!!
In it I found Christmas finger puppets, key chains, ohhh, opps, not to give it away. Suffice to say that many children will be receiving parts of the box. The rest? I am keeping for myself!
Thank you so much for allowing me to talk about this wonderful little treasure.
Oh, and it is worth more than money; however at least , price wise, well over $80.00
All that was missing was the wrapping paper! haha

I have 1 child but i dont mind getting items that he has out grown because i like gift giving. In this box i got a Boz set. I had 3 dvds total in this along with great books. My favorite item is definetly the Max lucado book. I love to make gift boxes for boys and girls of all ages so this is something i plan to order at least once a month.

Everyone can read the description. It is a surprise box. Two things might happen:
1. You get some really awesome stuff
2. You get a box of junk
To purchase you must be ok with either outcomes. I have ordered once and got some really cool stuff and also some junk. Overall, I am happy with it and I am ordering another one!

I don't reccommend anyone buy it who will get super upset at getting a box of useless junk or someone who doesn't like surprises. I found that even the stuff I didn't like/use one of my friends liked it and wanted it.

I ordered this surprise box because of price and because I wanted some unique stocking stuffers for my 2 yo son. I LOVED it! I got wonderful quality books, a couple of DVD's, and more. Of course, a few things are a bit old for my son, so I'm holding them back for the future, but the items I'm giving him this year will sure make a great stocking. So glad I ordered!

The description of the value of over $100.00 for $9.99 is not correct. The value of the 10 products sent were under $30.00 so am quite disappointed so I do NOT recommend one make this purchase unless they do not count on what is promised 'value of over $100.00'.

Our church has a quarterly "shopping table" for Sunday School students; they pay with "Bible Bucks" that they've earned during the quarter. I ordered this box for the shopping table and am really pleased with it - the kids will be able to "buy" some really nice Christian-themed books, CDs/DVDs, and games, instead of plastic trinkets and candy, at only $1 per child. It's a win-win situation for the church, the students, and hopefully it helps the book authors/publishers as well.
Our students range in age from 3 to 12, and there was something in the box for each age group.

I have seen the other reviews and I agree with most views. Yes there is a mix bag. Yes you don't always get all in a series of book and end up with #4 in a 6 part series. Yes, sometimes there are items that are not "Christian" in the box.
But there is also

I bought one last year just for the fun of it since I had no idea what it was. The only thing that really disappointed me was the fact that I got book 3 in a series. But after reading it myself (I still do read children's books and I try to read books before I give them to children so I know what I giving them), I wanted to buy the rest- So it is a great marketing tool for the books and other items you get randomly. I mainly got books. I got a mix of books for a variety of ages. I was able to give away some to my goddaughter and other friend's children and the older ones i kept myself if there was one in a series or gave it away if it was a standalone book or the first in a series. I plan on getting the rest of books in the series I was sent. And in all honesty, i probably would not have given the book a second look if I had just seen it online.
Don't buy this looking for exactly what you want and wish because you aren't going to get it if you are looking for specific items. If you are looking for a great sample package(which is what I see this as) then go for it. You will get some great stuff out of the bargain and everything can be used.

WOW! I'm not sure why the low reviews on this $10 box---it's worth $100 at least. Take another chance and order---you'll be pleasantly surprised! The card game plays just like UNO--fun for kids of all ages. I love the audio book of Prince Caspian---worth at least $25 itself. This value can't be passed up---give it another try! Everytime I have ordered this---a great new mix of products!

I had ordered the surprise box in the past and it was wonderful! Full of christian books and gifts, but the last one I purchased in March... I couldn't be more disappointed! It had home schooling items about Asia, and VHS tapes, what a joke. Also, before you could call and they would tell you what is in the box, but I called today (August) and was told that they can no longer tell you what is in the box because it is called a Surprise box. Not sure why the customer service has gotten so bad or why a Christian book company would put NON chrstian items in a Christian surprise box...guess that's the surprise!

I really liked the items inlcuded in my suprise pack. The order came today and many of the items were age and season appropriate for my children. Many books were included and I loved that since I read to my children every night. I found that many of the items were featured on the magazine for Christianbook.com. I would recommend that one buy the pack just for the joy of the suprise and not expect certain items. This way, you will be more pleasantly suprised when the great items come. Good deal and I will be getting another one sometime soon!

I ordered this hoping for stocking stuffers. It is junk, plain and simple. I called to express my displeasure and asked how this could possibly add up to the amount of money in items the caption says I would be getting. The supervisor I talked to said, "Oh, but that is retail. The mark-up on that is a lot." She also said that the gift items bought here at Christianbook.com are a "mixed bag." She advised that I would be better off seeing them first before I decided if I would spend that kind of money on them. Not happy with the items, not happy with the service I received. Junk.

I wasn't sure what to expect when ordering the children's surprise box, and overall, I am disappointed. Two books in the box have nothing to do with faith, one of the things included is a VHS tape (many people don't even have VCRs anymore), and the other items are not things I will probably use as gifts. I was hoping to use them for nieces and nephews, but oh well, I wouldn't have known if I didn't try.

I should have realized that the items in a "surprise package" would be the ones that don't sell. I am very disappointed with the items in this package. There are only 2 items that I will keep, and am hesitating about whether to pass on the other items or throw them out. The novels are completely inappropriate for a Christian child of any age, and the videos and toys are of a very poor quality. I'll remember next time not to order this!!!

I loved my surprise pack! I am a missionary living in a South American country where birthdays are BIG! Practically every week, one of my 2 elementary school kids is invited to a birthday party, so I continually need a gift...and gifts are VERY expensive here. My surprise pack had a good mix of books for girls and boys, which was perfect because we need gifts for both. I've already used 3 of the several books sent as gifts. Since they are Christian books, it is an extra blessing to give. The cost of these books here in South America would be MUCH higher than in the States, so I feel like I got a SUPER good deal. It would have been nice, however, to have also received some kids jewelry or bookmark items plus the books for some variety...but I am VERY pleased! Thanks!!!

I was unsure to include this item in my order yet I was pleasantly surprised. The people packing the box must have known I had girls as I ordered Dr. Dobson's Bringing up Girls book. They must of put two and two together as all the books and items were perfect for my girls. The books are fabulous and DVD's included were spot on. This will not be my last time ordering this pack. I loved it! This was a great choice over the usual candy/toy packs. There was something for everyone, any age. The girls loved the princess purse, also the books with CDs, definite plus. Would have preferred to have more than one "Bible Stories"; all in all, an excellent idea.
