Moody Publishers Together: Growing Appetites for God

If you struggle as a parent to read the Bible yourself, how can you pass a love for God's Word along to your children? In Together, Carrie Ward, author of AnEverydayMama.com blog, shares her personal struggles with reading the Bible herself. As the mother of young children, she began reading the Bible aloud to her children. Read about her adventures as her children began acting out what they heard read and how the Bible came alive for both her and her children. Offering advice and encouragement for all mothers, her warm and inviting style will encourage you to read God's Word Together as a family and watch your hunger for it grow. At the back of her book, you will find practical help for getting started reading the Bible together, discussion questions for small groups, handy resources, a Bible translation comparison, and a starter guide for dads.

This is a very practical book for busy moms with little ones. It was a very quick and easy read and the principles are such that they are very easy to implement. I can't wait to start reading through the Bible with my little one.

I had seen a blogger I admire mentioned the book Together by Carrie Ward, and the title and cover caught my attention. I was so very excited when a week later Moody Publishers sent me my own copy!
Sharing God's Word with children is a subject near and dear to my heart, but one I have a hard time really articulating for some reason.
The day the book arrived, my children were playing at the park behind our home with their grandparents, and I had a couple hours to myself to just sit and quietly read.
This book was AMAZING. I also began the habit of reading to my children straight from my own NKJV Bible when they were very young, and have been so abundantly blessed in the years we ave been doing so. Often I am more blessed through the times I read and discuss with them than I am in my own private, quiet study of God's Word. It is absolutely amazing the way a child's brain can understand and soak up The Word of God!
A absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it to all parents!
I received this book from Moody Publishers in exchange for an honest review.

The short book is very encouraging with its "if I can do this, anyone can" tone. I loved that she started it while her children were so young still; so many things I read online about teaching your children about God and the Bible seem too old for my very young kids.
The appendix lists useful resources, but as Ward emphasizes, all you have to have is a Bible. The chapter on getting through the tough stuff was also helpful as I think ahead to how we’ll handle difficult passages.
The ideas are simple, but not easy, and I was so inspired that before even finishing the book I'd begun implementing my own routine of reading the Bible with my children.
Disclosure: I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Such a great read! I felt as though I was sitting across the kitchen table with Carrie and her children. I could just see and hear her children playing Moses and Pharoah. I felt their pain on their "sick day" and rejoiced with them that the scripture spoke directly to their need. Of course it made me wish I'd done the same with my children. I have given Carrie's book to them and they may be encouraged to start this daily reading of the word with my grand children! Glad I heard Carrie on Revive Our Hearts and so glad she wrote this book.

This book is a good book for any mother who is trying to decide how to implement Bible reading with her children. The author is funny and gives some great ideas on ways to make reading the Bible interesting for your children. Her personal examples are what make the book worth reading. I enjoyed her sense of humor and also liked her simple ideas. Seeing the effect of reading the Bible with your children is the goal the author asks you to set. Although that sounds easy, after reading this book you will understand that it will take some effort on your part. I especially enjoyed the discussion questions available for each chapter. I thought they were well thought out and really made you think about what you had just read. I only gave this book 4/5 stars because although I liked all the personal stories, I think there was just too many of them. Sometimes less is better!
I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
