Moody Publishers No More Perfect Moms

With refreshing honesty, author Jill Savage exposes some of her own parental shortcomings with the goal of helping mothers everywhere shelve their desires for perfection along with their insecurities of not measuring up to other moms . Jill delivers some much-needed realism as she explains why we need to stop comparing our insides to other people's outsides. She challenges every mom to exchange her vision of being a "perfect mother" for God's beautiful grace in order to learn to love her real, but imperfect, life.

Wow what a powerful book for all mothers to read and learn from! The author, Jill Savage, has written other great books but this one is by far her best one yet! I gave this book 5/5 stars. There are many examples and illustrations that will make you laugh and even some that will bring a tear to your eye. They are each perfect for the topic the author is discussing. Every mom should read this book and then go out and buy all their mom friends the book! I thought the author did an excellent job of showing all moms that no one is perfect and we all just do the best we can! I would recommend this book for every mother, no matter what age your children are!
I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Love this book. It really is for everyone! Not just Moms. We all stuggle with what we think is "perfect" and how we are not that. I love how honest this book is. Another thing that I love about it was all the responses that Jill used from Facebook comments. Real answers from real women. So many times while reading this book it was like a light bulb going off and I was uplifted. This book is a must read. I am sure I will read it over and over to remind myself to "Not compair my messy insides to some elses cleaned up outside."

When I read this book my first thought was that I was going to be able to laugh that I wasn't the only mom who ran from diaper changes and things like that. I started the book and the first two chapters to be honest I considered stopping but I am glad I did not. I continued to read through and realized okay this book is relatable, at first I was worried. This book puts you in reality. It does not put moms on a pedestal that stay home or that work. It is just about being you, and being a mom, especially a christian mom. Life is hard and this book shows that you can make it. One thing I did enjoy was Jill's honesty as writing the book. So often people write books and are hypocrites writing books on fixing marriages when they are okay with theirs falling apart etc. Jill doesn't hide from the hardships she had she embraces them, learns from them, uses them to inspire, and works to have a better marriage. Christians are not perfect, moms are not, and marriage is definitely not. This book is a good eye opener, to be honest I would recommend reading it along with power of a praying wife or mother to apply them together, gave me a good list of things to pray for for my family.

Jill Savage's latest book is refreshing because it isn't a list of things I should do to be a better mom or to be more organized. At its core, it is about giving ourselves grace, remembering that imperfection leaves room for Christ and that the comparison game women play is harmful. Any mother who reads this book will find at least 2-3 chapters where she is challenged, relieved and refreshed. There will be some chapter you won't relate to because you don't struggle in that area ( I don't try to be a perfect homemaker so this chapter didn't affect me much). I appreciated the message of this book but the message won't really be effective unless is embraced by a whole movement of woman who decide to be real. I am not sure a book can accomplish this. And I am not sure a mom who isn't a Christian can benefit from the message. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have spent this last month reading this wonderful book. It has been completely freeing and life-changing for me.
There is so much pressure these days to be the perfect mom. It comes from everywhere. We can catch the "perfection infection" every time we're on Facebook seeing those pictures of other moms looking so thin, taking expensive vacations with their families, buying a beautiful new home. We are prone to catch it when we read inspiring blogs by other moms who seemingly have it so together. It's practically contagious when we click on Pinterest and see all of those lovely rooms and spaces that we wish we had in our own homes or all of that photo-perfect food that we wish we had the ability to cook for our families and friends. And what about when we're around fellow moms at our churches, our children's schools, our homeschool groups or playgroups?
I have to be honest. I have felt so incredibly {self}condemned by fellow homeschool moms at times. We all want to have those well-behaved children that everyone brags on everywhere they go. We all want to have the smartest and brightest children, the ones who are grades ahead and will probably go to college early. It's much harder to talk to other moms about the problems you're having with your children. To discuss that you might have to get your son tested for adhd and that no matter what you try your daughter just struggles with math. No, we want to put on that good front and put that positive spin on life. We would never admit to succumbing to tears of frustration and failure nearly every single day.
This book touches all areas of our lives: our kids, bodies, marriages, friends, days, homes and homemaking. Then in the end Jill reminds us that a "real picture of motherhood would include: no expectations, no pride, no fear, no insecurity, no judgment, no comparisons, no agenda, no performing, no more perfect moms ....just imperfect moms partnering with a perfect God."
Some of my favorite parts of this book are in the very back. Jill shares an incredible list of "Who I am in God's eyes" that is so powerful. And there's also her challenge to "Knock It Off: Stop the Mommy Wars" where she calls us to stop our judgmental attitudes and talk about other moms. Very convicting stuff there.
So as you can tell, I HIGHLY recommend this book for moms!! Really all women can benefit from this book, because these are things that nearly all women struggle with.

Jill Savage writes accurately about the roots of perfectionism. She then shares the antidote. The book is worth reading just for that. Making the four changes she suggests could save lives, relationships, and families. I’m definitely a better person for applying her wisdom already. She wisely weaves the antidote into each chapter. She’s convincing!
It’s an easy read because of Jill’s compelling writing, frequent headings, relevant illustrations, specific suggestions, and Scripture. If you know perfectionism is causing problems for you and your family, please read this book. It will help you.
Jill ends with this list of what a new picture of real motherhood would include: no expectations, no pride, no fear, no insecurity, no judgment, no comparison, no agenda, no performing, no more perfect moms, just imperfect moms partnering with a perfect God. Deep down, isn’t this what you want? Read the book!

No More Perfect Moms is a very candid look at the unmasked realities of the everyday - The everyday of womanhood, in all of it's seasons.
Whatever your stage of motherhood - from newborn to teen to empty nest - this book will meet you where you are, and offer valuable insight as you seek to escape the "Perfection Infection".
Jill's vulnerability is touching and her been-there-done-that wisdom is warm and honest. She sets the example of authenticity by pulling back the curtain of her of own life, and in doing so, reminds us that our worth is not measured by worldly standards, but by who we are in the eyes of God.
No More Perfect Moms is a timely reminder that there will never be a perfect day, or child or home - but it's okay because we have a perfect God who knows what it's like to be human and who loves us with a perfect love.

No More Perfect Moms is a must read this year for all women! I am the typical type A personality. I can do it all myself, I have everything together and expect perfection. With that being said wow did this book speak to me in all areas of my life. Jill starts the book out by acknowledging what all women deal with " perfection infection", she defines it, and then gives us practical ways to combat it. She goes through dealing with perfection in all areas of our life: our kids, bodies, friends, marriages, days, homemaking, and homes. What a relief it was to read these pages, and to know that I'm not alone. Jill amazed me in her transparency and gives real life examples that we can all learn so much from! Just this morning my kids were whiny, wanted to play, and I was getting grumpy because I wasn't getting anywhere with the things I needed/wanted to do then I thought about the chapter on No More Perfect Days and Jill says " We need perspective to keep us from reacting when our plans fall through. We need the perspective that the moment we are in is just as important as the moment we planned on that didn't happen the way we thought it would..... We need to embrace what is, instead of what could have been." I just love every part of this book. This would make a great book study and I intend to host one later this month! Thanks you so much Jill Savage for writing this book!

It is in our nature, as moms, to compare ourselves to those moms who seem to have it all figured out. The problem is that we are often comparing our insides to another’s outsides, and when we do this, we always come up short. Jill’s book reminds me to celebrate my strengths, to embrace my imperfections, and to allow the grace of our perfect God to fill in the missing pieces. I can’t wait to share this book with my mom’s group at church and to be involved in the important conversations about authenticity that will be sure to follow!

No More Perfect Moms by Jill Savage is a must read for any mom living in the trenches of motherhood. It contains so many much- needed reminders and nuggets of wisdom like "don't compare your insides to someone else's outsides" or "we need to expect our kids to fail because perfection doesn't exist" or a reminder to focus "on the people living inside my house more than the things inside it." It challenged me to compare and judge less and show grace to others and myself so much more. The subtitle says 'learn to love your real life'; and this book delivers if you are willing to put the work in of applying its message.

Are you tired of yelling at your kids to 'Stop yelling at your sister (or brother)!!"?? Why do I expect perfection from my kids, my husband, my friends, etc. when I am far from perfect? Unrealistic expectations can deflate someone very fast, including myself! No More Perfect Moms is not your typical parenting book. Jill is the real deal and she lays it out "perfectly" for us. We need God's grace each and every day, sometimes moment by moment. When we truly live IN His grace, we are able to pour that same grace out onto others in our lives. You will not be disappointed in this book. It's great to read in a group and/or on your own. You will be amazed, relieved, and even cry as you discover that you are not the only one out there who has what Jill calls the "perfection infection". Learn that it is okay NOT to be perfect, have the perfect body, perfect kids, perfect marriage, perfect home, perfect friends, etc. No More Perfect Moms is a MUST read and a MUST share!

This isn’t a parenting book. This is a book for every woman who feels the burden of the appearance of perfection in other women’s children, homes, marriages, bodies, and lives. With honesty and straightforwardness, Jill Savage addresses the unrealistic and inaccurate standards that we measure ourselves against, which inevitably lead to dissatisfaction and discouragement. “We compare our messy insides- our struggles, our failures, our less-than-perfect lives- to other women’s carefully cleaned-up, perfect-looking outsides. It’s a game we moms play that we can never win.” This book gives women the courage to set those images aside; to find and embrace the real joy in their real but imperfect lives with their real but imperfect families. This is a thoughtful personal read or great book club or moms group book for women wanting to build closer, more authentic relationships and discard the unrealistic “perfection infection.”

I am so Thankful to Jill Savage for having the honesty and guts to write this book. No-More-Perfect-Moms
I am challenged by her idea of eliminating the Perfection Infection in my life.
But to do that I must yield to God.
The idea of YIELD, that red upside down triangle sign, is not a fun one.
I want to go first, take my turn, and do what I want.
But it is in my yielding that I learn patience, timing, and virtues that only He can show me.
I am most Thankful that God has used this book to make me yield.
Slow down see where I am wrong. (and right!)
And how I can use it to not only effect my husband, my children, and all who enter my house, but to further His kingdom.
Through a MOM like ME!

In my opinion, No More Perfect Moms is 2013’s must-read book for every mom. In fact, even women who aren’t moms – whether married or single – can benefit from much of the wisdom in this powerful little book. Simply put, it will minister to every woman who fears that she “doesn’t measure up.”
In No More Perfect Moms, Jill Savage examines all the major areas in which women can struggle with feelings of inadequacy – as parents, wives, and friends; in our physical appearance; as homemakers and managers of our homes. With compassion, humor, and personal transparency, she helps readers see the root causes of such struggles and then shares realistic, practical remedies to enable us to begin growing past our insecure, unattainable quests for perfection. She also explains how choosing to rest in God’s perfection is the ultimate antidote for our “perfection infections.”
As a recovering perfectionist, I loved this book. I felt encouraged as I was reminded of areas in which I’ve largely overcome perfectionism, strengthened in my ability to accept my imperfections, and empowered with Jill’s practical tools to continue on the journey toward living a life of love and freedom. I plan to buy this book as a gift for many friends and relatives and to encourage every woman I know to read it. If you really want to “learn to love your real life,” this book is the place to start.

I absolutely loved this book! Real advice. Real wisdom. From a real woman and mother. Jill shares her most real imperfect moments as a wife, mother, and friend in order to bring encouragement to other women who have been living in a world filled with high expectations that no one can live up to! This book has so much wisdom that will have you laughing one moment and crying the next. We’ve been living in a world for far too long that places judgement and condemnation on one another for the choices we each make and in reality....none of us is more godly than the other. We’re all sinners! It’s time that we let God speaks His truth into our hearts and remember our place in this world- to let God continue to change our hearts to look more like His and use our words to build one another up, not tear each other down! A must read for all women no matter what stage of life we are in!

If you are looking for a one of a kind book about motherhood, No More Perfect Moms is for you. I LOVED the honesty in this book! The author shares many of her own personal struggles as a wife and mom and leaves you with the feeling that she's very much like you and me. "When we keep it real, other moms know they are normal." I love that quote from the book. I have heard Jill Savage speak at several conferences and always assumed she had it all together. Reading about her marriage struggles and other hurdles she's had to navigate through as a woman gave me hope and encouragement. Letting go of the notion that everyone else has it all together is a recurrent theme throughout the book. It's just what a recovering perfectionist like myself needed to hear.
Each chapter of the book has an "Apply the Antidote" section full of practical steps you can take to overcome perfection in your mothering and in every aspect of your life. This book is a must buy for anyone struggling with perfectionism.
A quick and easy read for moms who have trouble finding the time to make it through a book.
