Customer Reviews for Random House, Inc D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths

Random House, Inc D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths

Here are the gods, goddesses, and legendary figures of ancient Greece - mighty Zeus, with his fistful of thunderbolts; gray-eyed Athena, goddess of wisdom; Helios, the sun; greedy King Midas - lavishly depicted by Caldecott winners Ingri and Edgar Parin d'Aulaire. In a relaxed and humorous tone, these splendid artists bring to life the myths that have inspired great European literature and art through the ages, creating a book readers of all ages will cherish.

A beautifully illustrated book! The content of the book is excellent for kids (& adults), and draws you into the story of the Greek myths immediately. An excellent resource to add to your library for the study of ancient history.

This is a wonderful book. Twice a week I read one of the myths to my son, he loves them. This is great addition to any course focusing on the history or culture of ancient Greece. It is also a good way to simply broaden a childs knowledge base and interest in history and/or literature. The myths presented are done in a tasteful manner, however, I would recommend that parents review them first. I consider the material appropriate for fourth grade and up.

I love this book. I read it to my two older sons when we were studying Greek History. Now I am studying it again with my 2 younger sons and can't find it. I'll buy it again. It read like a story book about all the myths and gods. Very interesting!
