Perfect for boy-crazy teenage girls, this book is a true how-to guide on overcoming boycraziness and trusting in God with your love life. Told in a first-person perspective, Confessions of a boy-crazy girl reads like a diary of author Paula Hendricks life, from her blossoming interest in boys to her more and more frequent (and costly) crushes on boys. Girls will learn from Paula how to let go and trust in God for their love lives, rather than trying to control them.

Review 1 for Confessions of a Boy-Crazy Girl: On Her Journey From Neediness to Freedom
I believe this is a book every preteen girl, teen girl, young woman and their mothers should read! As crazy as it sounds I think it is appropriate for grown women who are caught in the trap of thinking they need a man to be complete and happy. A great deal of damage is done to young girls and their future relationship with their husbands by society’s and parent’s acceptance and even encouragement that being “boy crazy” is normal. There is nothing “normal” about it and I do not believe it is God’s plan for the spiritual and emotional well-being of women of all ages. Paula does an amazing job of addressing this subject, not only from personal experience, but also from the Bible and the heart. This is not a big book but it is so well written that it holds an encyclopedia of wisdom! She beautifully illustrates how the modern day obsession to attract the opposite sex and secure a “relationship”, is not the “freedom” to eventually find the right husband, but is actually Satan’s snare to ruin young lives. Gently and skillfully she shares this preoccupation with boys (or men) is simply another void in one’s life that only God can fill. She reveals the story of her journey from being a boy crazy girl to a young woman who’s first love is God. With scripture and much humor Paula shows that only through trusting God, praying, and studying His Word can a girl finding not only God’s best but also the kind of love and man she truly wants for a lifetime. Her book makes it clear that God wants the best for us too, but in His time and His way. I liked all the scripture references that were used throughout the book. Not once was it ever preachy or condescending. It is written as if two good friends are simply visiting with each other. At the end of each chapter is “Journal Corner” for reflection on scripture and a particular challenge girls would face. A life changing book! I received this book free from Moody Press. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Review 2 for Confessions of a Boy-Crazy Girl: On Her Journey From Neediness to Freedom
Amazing book for Teen and Young adults!
Date:October 16, 2013
I first found out about "Confessions of a Boy-Crazy Girl" from the Revive our Hearts website. When I saw the endorsements from Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Erin Davis, Kimberly Wagner, Joni Eareckson Tada, Elyse Fitzpatrick, and Bob Lepine I knew that I just had to read this book.
I knew this book was going to be a really good read because of all the wonderful things being said about it, but I had no idea just how good it was going to be. It far surpassed all my expectations and I read it in only 3 nights- that right there tells me how much I enjoyed it!!
Written by Paula Hendricks, this book tells about her journey from being boy-obsessed and trying to get guys' attention by seducing them to trusting God and experiencing complete freedom. This book is filled with true stories from her journal and humorous moments- when she swallowed a live goldfish and then another time when she jumped off a banister down a flight of stairs just to get a guy's attention. She tells about how in order to love anyone we must love God more and first, that through His love we can love others.
What I loved most about this book was that it is REAL. Real stories about a real girl in real life doing real things. Real struggles with beauty and insecurities, placing guys above God, and then seeing how God works through even the toughest, most lonely times. Woven with Scripture and overflowing with encouragement and hope, this book will lead you to Jesus instead of other gods and idols. It is a book about surrendering to God's will and plan for your life and placing your trust in Him- not just once, but everyday, moment by moment. Like she writes in her book, "it's a journey." And that it sure is!

Wish a book like this was around when I was a teen
Date:September 22, 2013
I read this to see if my 12 y.o. daughter should read it yet. I will wait a few years but if she showed any signs of boy craziness I would have her read it now. So many young girls spend so much of their young lives trying to impress boys and stressing over boys and making so many choices based on what boys think or want. This book changes their focus and does a great job of reminding them that they need to fill their hearts and minds with encouragement and approval from the Lord. Personal examples from the author help them see they are not the only ones who may struggle in this area. A must read for young girls BEFORE they start dating.
