I absolutely love this grammar program! I use both the First Language Lessons 1 and 3. In the first grade book, the exercises are short but detailed enough that my son understands the concept. There also isn't a lot of writing in the 1st grade book, which is great. It's mostly short copywork exercises. The 3rd grade book is also wonderful because it gives the student a thorough understanding of the different parts of speech, sentence diagramming, dictionary skills, oral usage and writing skills, as well as sufficient review in future lessons. I like the scripted the teacher's guide which you could use word for word or paraphrase as you explain the lesson to your child. The lessons usually take us about 15 to 20 minutes to complete and they are not overwhelming. My 3rd grade son actually looks forward to doing grammar which is great for a kid who does not like to write! We look forward to beginning the FLL grades 2 & 4 next year!
