Zondervan Things to Come: A Study in Biblical Eschatology - eBook

Because of the prominence of prophecy in Scripture, many excellent books have appeared dealing with prophetic subjects. However, the treatment has often been either apologetic or expository in nature, which has left prophetic themes to be developed individually apart from their relation to the whole revealed prophetic program. Thus, much of our knowledge has remained only fragmentary and unrelated. Dr. Dwight Pentecost's monumental work, Things to Come, has changed this situation dramatically. In this detailed and highly successful study, Dr. Pentecost has synthesized the whole field of prophecy into a unified biblical exposition, arriving at a systematic and complete biblical eschatology. Things to Come offers a comprehensive and accessible presentation of biblical prophecy for pastors, scholars, and interested laypersons who want to know more about this fascinating subject.

This book provides simple to understand explanations to very complex passages of Eschatology. The best feature is the subject matter index in the back of the book. Simply look up the word needing clarification, then turn to the page(s) listed to find a Scripural explanation

An excellent and exhaustive dissertation regarding things that are yet to come. For anyone new to the study of eschatology I recommended this book. Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost has a well-planned, and explained, study of future events. It is a book to not only read and study but to keep as a reference book.

Extremely helpful!!! Dr. Pentecost gives the various views and explains why each view is or is not in line with God's Holy Word. He does so without being critical of the person. I appreciate the way Dr. Pentecost presents such "deep" teachings using words that even I can understand. I use this book repeatedly as a resource. Powerful!

This book is one of the best on Biblical Eschatology available to us. Many bible teachers say let the Bible interpret the Bible this is easier said than done!. The beloved Dr. Pentecost is one among the few who preach and practice this principle of Bible interpretation. In this book, he has amalgamated the whole field of prophecy, blending them into one clear integrated picture of scripture - BRILLIANT! The study & understanding of Biblical Eschatology, is utterly important for our edification (particularly during our times). This is why the reader of the book of Revelation is promised to be blessed in Rev 1:3. Things to Come is one of the most significant resource available to learn and understand Eschatology as expressed in the scriptures. The book shines with light! It is edifying!

This is a very thorough presentation of the study of eschatology. Dr. Pentecost relies a lot on others for his text, which is good. He expresses in his text all of the points of view. It is a very complete explanation of the study of prophecy as forthtelling. I woukld recommend the book to anyone.

Best in Class award! They don't come any better than this. This book is not "light reading" --- but it is an incredibly valuable resource for your study of the End Times. One of the things I appreciate about Pentecost is that when he quotes someone, for good or bad, he usually includes enough of the original that you can tell he has not taken it "out of context." Don't let the size of the book or its academic nature scare you off --- this one is definitely worth reading.

The book has seven sections.I. Interpetation of ProphecyII. Covenants and EschatologyIII. Prophecies of the Present AgeVI. Prophecies of the Tribulation PeriodV. Prophesies Related to the Second AdventVI. Prophecies of the MillenniumVII. Prophecies of the Eternal State Each section is detailed and presents all sides of Biblical interpretation. Pentecost moves systematically through the prophetic text from the Covenants to Eternity. I highly recommend it for personal study and as a reference on the study of prophecy.

This is a great book. It discusses most views of 'end time' subjects as well as many other biblicial issues. Dr. Pentecost if very fair in giving his views as well as other views. I highly recommend this book.
