Powerful, heart-retching and thought provoking! An excellent illustration of grace in action! See a young girls struggle through sexual slavery and reluctant deliverance. See a young man's aching commitment to a reluctant bride and to his Sovereign Lord! See the joy that can come through the acceptance of forgiveness and grace! From a strictly human perspective, this story seems impossible but, God can make all things possible through Him, for our good and His glory! Not for young readers (recommend high school or older)!!

I gave this to my 18 year old granddaughter for Christmas at her request. She was already to page 20 before the rest of us finished opening our gifts. She had read part of a friends book but wanted a copy of her own.

Francine Rivers did a wonderful job writing this book and tying the book of Hosea into it. Redeeming Love shows you all about redemption, faith, grace, trust , true love, and God's love all in one wonderful story. A very inspiring book that I will certainly be reading again!

My Sunday School class has been studying "The Story" by Max Lucado, and this book was mentioned on the week we studied Hosea in our lesson. I ordered it the next week and when I started reading it I couldn't put it down. I read the entire book in one weekend! Great story line , have a box of puffs ready ... you'll need them. You can't compare this novel directly to the book of Hosea in the Bible. It's not meant to be equal. Anyone who has a friend or family member that have had any kind of sexual assault I highly recommend this book. It helps you to better understand the way they react to things.

Redeeming Love was recommended reading by a friend. This story by Francine Rivers is based on the book of Hosea in the Bible. It reminds us of God's grace, love and forgiveness. It is written so well and so meaningful that I have chosen to give it as gifts to friends.

My heart was deeply moved by this story that so obviously pointed to God's love for his people and His unending quest for their love.

Something inside me always said, "Girl, buy this book." However, I didn't until I had basically bought out my local bookstore and that was the only book left. I didn't know what to expect when I started reading. I never ever read the story in the Bible. When I did read it in the Bible, I didn't really understand it so I just decided to read the book.
It captured me immiedietly.
I finsihed the book in four hours, and when I was done, I realized I was forever changed. Before the book, I knew God was real. But I never understood the depths of His love. Now I do. And because of His amazing grace, I'm changed...I know God loves me...it's amazing. :)

I was reading this book in conjunction with the book of Hosea. There is a definite disparity between the 2. In the book, Michael seems to be marrying Angel as a reflection of God's redemptive love. Indeed God's love is such. However, in the book of Hosea, God wants Hosea to marry Gomer as a symbol of Isreal's harlotry. It is a wake up call in the Bible, but the book portrays it as an unusual love story. The Bible has enough romance, interest, and excitement, no need to fictionalize it and claim it's based on the Bible.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book because of the reviews I'd gotten from other people. I had in my head that the book was a "self-help" type book with lessons and applications instead of the love story it is. Though I certainly gained so much more than just some lessons and life applications, this book is truly one of the most beautiful stories ever told and keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Prepare to experience every emotion possible as you read this awesome book! Don't be scared by the size of the book - you'll wish it were even larger at the end!!

This is a book that I pull off my shelf and reread once a year, just because I have never read anything (other than my bible) that moves me and reminds me of who we are as people and how far we have fallen and who God is and just how much He desires a relationship with Him. I can not say enough good things about this book.

I really enjoyed this book. The powerful shock I got when I understood what happened to Angel as a child, and the strong conviction of her actions at the end was a great experience. I'd totally recommend it to other people. And thanks to Francine Rivers!

Mercy me, how can one book be loaded with SOO much?
So many lessons, so many emotions but only one Truth that brought me face down, humbled before my Savior.
The Love of God. The incomprehensible, precious Love of God. Take it from me, when you grab a copy of this, make sure you also hang on to that nice, fully-packed tissue box. Also make sure you're either reading alone or in the presence of others who won't think you're crazy and get ready for an adventure that will get you reacting out loud and has been described as powerful and life-changing. It's funny, so wise and many times through out, I felt like time stopped even as I stood still before God, shivers running through me.
A sermon doesn't have to be written on how wonderful this book is, so I won't write one. All these well deserved 5 stars reviews speak loudly enough and if you are an avid reader of all things Christian, you know at one point you have to give this a try for all the acclamation it's received. I have to admit being tempted to give up on it because of all the pains Angel was making sweet Michael go through, continually leaving him and all. But so help me, I'm so glad I hung in there because the ending was simply breathtaking.
Grateful for the great reminder of The even Greater Love- on an Easter weekend, no less.

I read this book years ago on the recommendation of a friend. I expected it to be somewhat corny and I was surprised to be wrong. It took a somewhat difficult part of the Bible and made it so easy to understand, and in the form of a very good fiction novel. I recently purchased this book as a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law who loves romance novels, in the hope that it will help her better understand the love of God.
