College Press Publishing Co. The Books of History

Old Testament history is so much more than a record of facts and events. It is the dynamic story of ancient Israel's relationship with the living God. Smith's chapter-by-chapter survey of Joshua through Esther covers 1407 B.C. to 432 B.C. and reveals how God's interaction with the Hebrews shaped them into a nation. Ideal for individual or group Bible study. 756 pages, hardcover from College Press.

An excellent resource! Smith provides a wealth of information without getting bogged down in details. The book includes quite a few good charts and maps. I appreciate his sound, conservative scholarship. This is the first commentary I grab when studying the OT books of history. It's a book anybody can use!
