When I first saw the cover of this book, I couldnt help but think about how simple it looked. Would it be another dull read? An easy one that I would breeze right through? I also assumed that it would be meant for a younger audience.

Nope. I couldnt have been more off base.

While I was waiting for that book to come in the mail, I had picked up another book by Robin Jones Gunn. The name sounded familiar and upon reading those initial pages, I fell in love with this author. Alyssa Bethke has also become one of my favorites through reading this book. Its not just for teens or young adultsits for all of us. Spoken For has a message every woman can relate to. We were created to love and we have this deep need to be loved back.

Who doesnt love a good romance? This girl definitely does! But in our search for romance in this world, we often miss the beating heart behind the greatest romance of all time: one that we all get to choose to have with our Savior.

The message in this book is one that I desperately needed to hear and it left my heart on its knees more often than not. These gifted writers helped me understand that Gods love is so much deeper and fuller than anything we could experience in this world. No matter what season youre in, you will walk away from this book with a bigger and better outlook on life, the world we live in and who you are. We are not defined by our circumstances. My name is not broken, beaten, or bruised. Im not considered trash. I am Beloved. I am a daughter of the King.a daughter of the Almighty God. You are, too, if you choose to accept the truth He pours over us every moment of every day.

(I received this book for free from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest review.)

Before I had even finished the first chapter, I knew this would be something that I wanted my daughter and my granddaughter to read.

Robin and Alyssa use the perfect examples in telling how their first loves were not the forever love they each thought it would be. In contrast, Jesus loves us with an everlasting love and is ever present and ready to receive our love.

Then they discuss how wonderful it is to be pursued (in a good way) the closest I can relate to this is the job I have now. A co-worker asked me if I would be interested in transferring to the main office for a better position and a promotion!

Of course, I was thrilled and even more so when I learned that my future supervisor and his supervisor both thought I was the perfect choice!

However, being a bit scary, since it would require a move to another city, I continually prayed about if I should apply for this position (and if moving my family to another city 3 hours away would work out) and I asked God to show me in several specific ways, which He did, in ways I couldnt doubt.

Robin and Alyssa go on in the next few chapters to explain that this is what God does He patiently draws us to Him. Robin speaks of how God delights in you not because of anything you do or dont do just because you are His.

God wants you. He loves you and is continually pursuing you. He has called you out of this world because you are of great value. You are His Peculiar Treasure. You are set free. You are covered, and my favorite, you are promised to Him. You are spoken for

Read the book. Its a really great book.

An even better idea is to buy the book, read it, then pass it on to a sister, a daughter, or a girl friend.

But read it thoroughly and take in all it says about how special you are to God, and how much He loves you. You belong to Him you are Spoken For

When I first received Spoken For, I wasn't sure what to expect. Was it a bible study slash devotional slash study guide? Would it even speak to me, being a Mama of 4 children - 3 teen/tween girls in particular? Through personal stories, God's word, and study questions, Robin and Alyssa weave the story of God's unique love for His people and why it's the greatest love story of all.

From the beginning, I noticed Robin's unique love for young girls and it's seen in her readable style of writing. The words are not shallow, but written in a manner that does not speak "Christianese" but with clear word pictures to describe our great God and, in turn, His great love for us. They readily admit their own fault in focusing on, "the flawed love shown to me by humans and used that measurement to thing about God's love,...unwittingly making God human, but of course, He isn't. He is holy. He is almighty, all powerful, and all knowing , and he is love... He loves us. Always."

What a enjoyed most, was the theme of "embracing who you are and whose you are". With so much in the world, touting being the "best you, you can be" or even self esteem issues - Robin and Alyssa go a step further to remind us, the reader, that we are someone's beloved and that is, the Lord!

I've always been a lover of romances and unfortunately, the world today touts the modern day love story much differently than fairy tales. But, together, Robin and Alyssa, remind us of the the greatest love story of all, Christ's love for His bride, the church. And then, to top it off, they used the themes to remind us of the great freedom found in this love.

I would recommend this book and will encourage my daughters to read it, as they remind themselves that they are "Spoken For".

I received this book by Robin Jones Gunn and Alyssa Joy Bethke from Blogging for books, to review. When I saw this book my heart leaped. It is geared towards young girls, but is needful for any adult woman of any age (like me 52 yrs old) who needs to know how God's views her and loves her. I have gone through life wondering if God really loved me and what He thought about me. It is very simple reading, with questions at the end of each chapter to ponder and discuss if in a book group or a class.

This book came at a time when I really needed to hear the message it held. God is pursuing me. He loves me. I'm not up for grabs. I am loved. I am His. I was made in His image. I am precious to Him. I am spoken for. Oh how I needed to hear that.

This book is told from both Robin and Alyssa's point of view. The reader goes back and forth between both women, like you're listening to their conversation. It's super easy to understand and pick up who is saying what.

The main purpose of this book is to tell women that they are deeply loved by God. It's easy in our society to forget that. We get rejected, lose our self worth and get wrapped up in things that don't really matter. Before we even realize it, we've lost our focus. We can easily become consumed by worldly things, hoping they'll fill the gap, but truly only one wants to fill the gap.

This was an amazing book. It's soul lifting, spirit rejuvenating and each chapter you walk away feeling like you were created uniquely. I think any woman, no matter her age, can relate to the need to feel loved, or wanted, or called. This is an easy-to-read, more simplistic format that everyone can enjoy. And with each chapter ending with reflection questions, it could easily be adapted for a small group study.
