This book changed my view of what marriage should, and can, be. A perfect gift for the engaged couple, it also can be of much benefit to the already married. My husband and I have been married for almost forty years, and the theme of this book, marriage as a sacred covenant, resonates with us. This is an excellent book, and one I highly recommend.

This is the best book on marriage we have ever read (and we've read many). We recommend it to every couple we meet, especially if they are struggling in their marriage. But ever if they have a great marriage, Gary Thomas helps us focus on the spirtual aspect of marriage. We highly recommend this book to anyone who aspires to a godly marriage!

The book has completely changed my attitude about marriage and it's goal. I no longer talk about happy ever after, but a ministry to make us more Christ like which develops into happy ever after. I am curently using it in my Sunday school class centered around developing strong relationships in marriage. This book is going to be an eye opener and a tremendous help toward building a solid foundation for marriage.

In this book we are challenged to stop thinking of ourselves and learn to think Biblically. Marriage is presented as another tool God uses to refine us and make us more like Him. If we took this seriously there would be far fewer divorces. The author challenges us to stop thinking that marriage is for our happiness instead of His glory.

This book was definitely written from a heart of sincerity directed by God. I had to say I really did not know a lot of things and then there were other statements made where I guess I knew, but took it for granted. Realizing that if I just looked at myself for the change then the real change would occur. My logs in my eyes have been huge. This book was great in revealing that to me. Thank you.

This is another great book by Gary Thomas. I recently finished Sacred Parenting and the Sacred Parenting bible study. I read this book in preperation for the bible study that goes with it. After finishing this book I am all the more eager to do the bible study at church! Gary Thomas does an excellent job of addressing the issue of marriage from a very practical and biblical point. It is easy to relate to the illustrations. This book is not a "how to" book on marriage but rather a book that points to the fact that marriage is designed by God and is essentially for God and the deepening of a relationship with God. As this personal relationship deepens so does the marriage and it also is fortified and strengthened by this personal relationship. God is a God of love and that is what marriage is all about. To better understand this one must seek out God on a personal level. This book is an excellent book to be read with your spouse, however, it is also worth reading even if your spouse does not wish to read it with you. Be challenged to apply God's word to your every day life.

I expected a lot from this book and it delivered. It would highly recommend it to anyone - engaged couples, those struggling with a difficult marriage and even those who are happy in their marriage - it clearly guides you towards God's wisdom in a practical yet deeply spiritual way. It challenges you to see beyond your current circumstances (good or bad) to an eternal perspective - yet, it honors the choice of marriage and encourages you to do the same in a selfless way. Really enjoyable to read.
