Oxford University Press A Hebrew and English Lexicon of the Old Testament

The Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew Lexicon is the standard reference work for serious Old Testament study. This lexicon (dictionary) provides not only the English equivalents for Hebrew words, but also it relates various meanings to specific passages in the OT. For full use of this lexicon, a knowledge of Hebrew is required. Not coded to Strongs. A useful companion volume by Einspahr, the B-D-B Index, locates the B-D-B page location for the definitions of Hebrew words, verse by verse, from Genesis to the end of the Hebrew Bible.

I think it is important for people that don`t read Hebrew to understand that this book will probably be to difficult for them. However, people who have a knowledge of Hebrew will certainly get alot of use out of this book. The constant need to refer to the table of abbreviations can become tiresome. Never the less, I can see no other way in which to present the information without enlarging the book to an unnecessary size. With constant use the abbrevations do become less of a problem as one becomes more familiar with them. I personally have found the book a great asset in my Hebrew biblical studies and I would recommend it to those wishing to pursue a more academic study of the Hebrew bible. Thank You Diana Jablonski
