We use at night when we all are ready for bed, We are just too busy to do it any other time. There could be a little more to it than it is, but me and my wife agree it's a start.

I am pleased with this family devotional. It has been a great reading to do in the evening with all my children and has lead us into wonderful conversations as a family. I love that it has a Bible reading and then a story to go with it and questions to ponder and answer as a family along with a prayer to end with.

We are thoroughly enjoying the special time this devotional provides. Real life applications of Gods word. Both my boys ages 5 and 9 can relate to the material, as do I.

VERY short devotions that can be completed in 5 min or less. I've only done a couple of them with my 2 kids, 17 & 9, and it just isn't what I was hoping for. The scripture reading is only one verse (that I've seen so far) and the devotion is all dialogue (between kids and parents), which is fine if you're the one reading it, but can get a little confusing listening to someone else read it. And it's a little cheesy for my 17 yr old. I was looking for something a little deeper.

We have been using the devotional for 3 weeks now and like that is has some scripture to go along with the story. Also like that there are questions at the end that way I can tell if my kids were listening:)

I bought a couple of family devotion books and this one is definitely the better one. I have an 8 yr. old and 13 yr. old and we all take turns reading it. I like the lay out and it is thought provoking, but not too deep so they miss the message. VERY GOOD!

Can't go wrong with this devotional. Each month has a different theme so we can focus on one goal through the many scripture refences. My children enjoy our devotion time together and will grab this book and bible and race to the couch!

I actually bought this as a gift for a friend who's last name is also McDowell. I believe my friend is seeking to know the Savior in a personal way and I thought another McDowell might help him along. When I accepted Christ, the very first book I read was Josh McDowell's "More than a Carpenter." So, from one McDowell to another, I hoped this would help my friend become all that God created him to be. I know Josh McDowell's books have helped me to know and experience the Lord in a very personal way and I hope his books will do the same for you.

This book is an easy way to do nightly devotions with your kids. The short stories effectively illustrate the lesson for the day in a way the kids can relate to. The only thing I could find problematic is that the stories are somewhat repetitive and formulaic, but so far the kids haven't noticed or complained and they continue to be focused on the devotions each night.

My family is using this as our daily devotion, it is wonderful! My kids are 6 and 12, both can relate in one way or another to the story. Mr. McDowell has thoughtfully puts questions at the end of each day that is also acts as a challenge. My kids are very competitive and the have been taking these to heart. With topics such as generosity, compassion, ect. our family is growing in Christ. Every family with children under 12 should purchase one of these.

This devotional has been the starting point for many incredible Christ centered discussions with my children ages 9-13. Many times we have stayed around the kitchen table for almost an hour talking about how to apply the Word to our daily lives!(Although it can be done in about 10 minutes, if time is short.) It reinforces how to be in the world and not of it. Our family has been greatly blessed by using this book. I believe yours will, too.

Pretty good but perhaps a little too world orientated as it dealt with some issues that my kids have never come across in our little homeschooling community. Eg: Alcohol and Drunken behavior, Pop Music etc... I personally would have preferred that it just taught straight from the Bible and left it up to the parents to interpret this to their own specific circumstances.
