Alex Chediak shares some great insight for parents of teens in his new book. This book would have been a great help to me when I was scouting out different colleges. Chediak does a good job balancing principles with real-life applications. Many of the stories that he shares are very relative to a graduating senior today. His statistics are up to date and very helpful in distinguishing the difference between colleges now and colleges 10-20 years ago. This book is not necessarily recommended for students (check out Chediak's book for students, Thriving at College) though students would probably benefit from this book, if at least to put their perspective in the perspective of their parents. Hopefully this book will suit parents well in trying to guide your teens into adulthood, whether it be continuing education or transitioning into the workforce. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher and was not obligated to provide a positive review.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Preparing Your Teens for College." My oldest child is 13 years old, and she's got brothers that are 12, 10, and 9. So we're just on the cusp of this teenage adventure, and I believe that reading this book has just oriented my next 8 years!

"Preparing Your Teens for College" is a discipleship manual for young people in our current cultural situation. It's not a book about college so much as about following Christ into young adulthood. Simply excellent.

Though this book does not apply to me because I have no children or plans for any in my future, I did find some insights to pass along to my brother who does have young children at home. The author uses sound Biblical advice for parents when it is time to prepare their children to leave home and attend a college. The author uses Scripture throughout the book and topics such as relationships, how to handle the expenses of college, academics, and how to prepare them spiritually for what they will face while attending college. I wish I had read this book before I went off to college because I would have found the advice to be very helpful especially the financial side of college as college is very expensive. I recommend this book to everyone who has children because the children will most likely attend college when they graduate high school and this book is full of great advice to make the transition easier for both parent and child.
