This book is now illustrated with more than 500 full-color graphics including maps, charts, time lines, and photographs depicting life in the Holy Land as well as actual locations of the events of the Bible. This book also includes a complete glossary for easy word identification.

WOW! This is my third What the Bible is All About and this is wonderful. The book is compact enough to carry with me in my bible bag so that it is handy for use in my Sunday School class and Youth girls class (I also carry What the Bible is All About young explorers edition for my Sunday School class). When we recieved this in the mail my two sons (age 3 and 7) sat down on the couch and began looking at it. As with all the books in this edition it is extremely thourough in the breakdown of each book. I really enjoyed the fact that it also includes a reading plan for reading the bible through in one or two years. A description of the purpose and historical setting of each book is given. Then the book is grouped into like themed chapters and are explained. My boys loved the color pictures while I enjoyed the very detailed and descriptive maps. I found it to be a useful resource, but also an excellent supplement to bible study. I am working through Psalms with my children and found the information in this book to be very helpful. I think it would be excellent for the home school parent who is teaching bible as part of the curriculum. This book is a place that children can go to search out biblical facts and to strengthen their knowledge of the scriptures and purpose behind each book. Knowing the history and circumstances surrounding a book of scripture often brings clearer meaning to that scripture making it easier to apply it to ones life. You do not have to be a theological seminary student to understand, enjoy and benefit from this book - it is written at a very basic level and meant to be used by everyday people like me who long to have a deeper meaning of the Holy Word.

This updated version of this classic and very valuable book, is beautifully edited and compiled, incorporating all of the most recent research done on ancient cultures and original texts of the Bible. It is a most valuable resource for me.

This has been one of my favorites for years. The one my mother used has been worn out by both of using it, so I bought a brand new one. I see that it has pictures in it that my mother's copy didn't have. Wow. Thank the Lord.

I purchased this book last year after thumbing through it at a local bookstore. One of the best Bible study tools I have ever used. It has given me a better understanding of what each book of the Bible is about and the message that is to be learned from it. I read this book before reading a book of the Bible and it makes the Bible so much clearer to me, it finally makes sense. The writer makes many comments throughout the book that pertain to today's generation, that are certainly an eye-opener and make me more aware of how I should be living my life.

This is an excellent resource to accompany your Bible study. I read Mrs. Mears' comments prior to reading the Bible passage in order to gain understanding of the history, traditions and links to other Bible passages. Her writing is clear, succinct and friendly. I have gained a much deeper knowledge of the Bible through her "chats" with me.

This book is a wealth of biblical history while explaining the context of the Bible The easy to understand, common sense format makes my Bible study even more interesting. The understanding of Gospels alone is worth the price of the book.I purchased one for my pastor friend and she was delighted. Anyone who enjoys Bible study will consider this book a necessary companion to God's Holy word. It has a wealth of thought provoking information for the Sunday School teacher. I cannot recommend it enough..... Happy Study.

A good source for an overview of the Bible. I use this with the computer version of this from Word search. It has a two year curriculum to support the book. Students prefer the visuals in this edition. I have used the non-visual version for over 25 years to teach Bible survey
