I first started reading this truly wonderful book that after about a chapter or two had to stop and start over reading it aloud to my husband (who hates reading). The story is so engaging. I couldn't wait to see the movie. We were not as won over by the movie. If I hadn't read the book, I might have rated it better, but missed so much of the richness of the book. Cast was a great choice just didn't like the on screen script. See the movie but get a richer experience by reading the book!!! It's worth the time for all ages. We look forward to reading part 2, the Ultimate Life.

If you loved this wonderful family movie, you'll also adore Cheryl McKay (The Ultimate Gift screenwriter) and Rene Gutteridge's latest collaboration, NEVER THE BRIDE: a Novel, based on Cheryl McKay's new screenplay. It's a fabulously funny, inspired romantic comedy. Check it out!

It's a story that you can see the plot moving along and aren't surprised by the outcomes...however, the character development and attachment is intense. The emotional and spiritual movement in this book is wonderful and moving. I fell in LOVE with Jason and his grandfather and was moved to tears at various points....not tears that were forced by some typical cliche line...but real emotional growth in the character.
