Thomas Nelson A Perfect Love, Heavenly Daze Series #4

A secret arrival and a clandestine submission. Battles over babies and pink ruffles. The new year brings challenges aplenty for the angels on the Island of Heavenly Daze.

Floyd and Cleta Lansdown adore their daughter, Barbara. They'd be perfectly happy if Barbara and her husband, Russell, lived with them forever, but Russell's been dropping hints about finding a place of their own and Barbara's talking about starting a family. What, Cleta wonders, would a twenty-three-year-old girl possibly know about raising a child?

Buddy Franklin knows he's the town misfit. He has always marched to the beat of a different drummer, but how can he help being who he is? Yet his lonely days are about to change: he has sent for a companion--a warm, cuddly creature to occupy his thoughts and listen to the poetry that rises out of him like bubbles from an Alka Seltzer . . .

As the new year begins on Heavenly Daze, will Buddy find lasting happiness with his new friend? Will Barbara have a baby? Will Birdie and Salt solidify their plans for marriage? The month of January holds no rest for the angels who guard the homes of Heavenly Daze!

I have very much enjoyed reading this series. However, I have problems with this book. I cannot see how a business (Mike's e-mail auction) that profits 500-600% of the cost of items for sale fits in with Jesus command to "love thy neighbor". I find it sad that the authors found it necessary to insert an issue totally unrelated to the story with one angel. There are 7 angels actively living among the people. But only the background of Yakov, who speaks frequently in Yiddish, a language he learned while previously living in Holland among "God's chosen people" during WWII. The authors' inclusion of the murder of "so many of Abraham's descendants" and the creation of the current State of Israel, is also irrelevant to the story. BEFORE you write this critique off as anti-semitic, ask yourself if it more loving to perpetuate and encourage a lie, or speak the unpopular truth. With an open mind and heart, read Deuteronomy 28:15-68. Then read Romans chapters 9, 10, 11. I choose to love my Jewish brothers and sisters by speaking God's Truth. I wish the authors of this book had. Far more people will read the book, than will read this review.

Another EXCELLENT book in the HD series! I have loved each of these books and all the characters in them. The best part is, the authors are quick to write the next in the series, so you aren't left with such a long time in between "feedings". You can't possibly just critique one, without a comment on them all. They all fit like a glove to a hand..:)If you enjoy books where you get to know the main cast of characters, you'll love these books. If you like books where you feel like you're a visitor in their midst, you'll love these books! And if you enjoy books where God's grace is sufficient to help anyone in any situation, you'll LOVE THESE BOOKS. Can you tell, I kinda like them...:)
