I liked this item but sent it back because the description in the catalogue and on line for this item didn't inform anyone of what NIV version it was. I wanted the 1984 version and this item had no indication of what version it was, just listed as NIV. Since it didn't list it as the NIrV I naturally thought it was the 1984 version. I didn't have any knowledge of the other version which I believe to be the 2011 version since I haven't been in the market for a new Bible for some time. I was quite disappointed.

I had an older NIV Study Bible that I've used for years. I wanted the new updated NIV version. I got the new Life Application Study Bible, with Large Print (for my older eyes), with the thumb index to easily find any book of the Bible. I got the distressed brown bonded leather cover, and had it imprinted with my name on it. This is the last Bible I will own. It is a beautiful Bible, the print is easy to read, and has the lay flat design (when you open your Bible and lay it on the table, it will lay flat and open). It has lots of great features: application notes, character sketches, book introductions, lots of maps, Dictionary-Concordance, red letter Bible, and other helpful features. It is about 2 1/2" thick, but still easy for me to take to Bible Study. And the price was very reasonable. You could spend much more and not get a Bible as beautiful as this one, with so many Features packed into it. Overall, I give this the highest rating, 5 stars. Compared to my old NIV Study Bible (which I love), this is 3 steps up. Large Print, Life Application, and extra features all make this a Great Bible for serious study, and the price was excellent.

I borrowed this study bible from a friend and really got so much out of it I decided to buy one for myself. My aging eyes don't like to read little print in the mornings when I do my devotions, so I took a chance on the large print edition. I was worried the print would be so large that a severely vision impaired person could read it, but this is a perfect "larger" print.
I HIGHLY recommend this bible. The study notes help so much with understanding what is being said AND how it applies to you right now, right here.

My former NIV life application was getting a little worn and I really had a need for larger print. My only reservation was not purchasing leather, I always purchase leather, even in other versions for study. The material and dark orchid/plum combo is nothing less than beautiful and very durable. Even greater are the words inside...just a little larger to accomodate a more comfortable read. I would say the quality and value were worth the wait for the large print to come out in NIV life application version.
