This is a beautiful Bible that far exceeded my expectations. The quality is exceptional. It had a pamphlet inside that said it was hand crafted. I order this at the same time as another Bible that was calf skin and about 4 times the cost of this one. I believe the leather on this one is nicer than the calf skin. For the price, you absolutely should order this. As others have said, it's worth full price. Thank you CBD for this great deal!

This Bible is compact yet easy to read because the printing is so clear and the paper is very white, even though it is thin. References are clear.

Excellent scholarship, including the likes of my hero Gordon Fee, Douglas Moo and others who all love Jesus and are top-notch Biblical scholars. When people degrade the NIV, I've found they come from existing biases, misinformation or prejudices that aren't warranted. I recommend this ttanslation wholeheartedly! This leatherbound version is soft and elegant. You won't be disappointed.

Extremely poor quality construction

I got mine for 19.99 on sale and I am extremely glad I didn't pay any more because the quality is very poor. It looks like it was assembled in a sweat-shop, numerous pages have ink markings on the opposite page (as though the ink was wet when the book was closed)... The print itself is not black but a dark grey and it is very hard to read. It appears they were trying to save money by not using as much ink or something. Quite frankly it is a disgrace that God's Word could be put together so poorly. I would definitely return it but I had it imprinted so that is not an option. This bible is probably worth $12.99 max even with the 'Premium Leather' (not sure what is so premium about it, my bonded leather study Bible is better). Love the 2011 translation, but next time I will not order online but go to my local bookstore so I am sure of what I am getting.

I bought this Bible because it was premium leather and low in cost. It was about four times better quality than I expected it to be.
The reason I didn't give this Bible a perfect rating is because it excels so much, it may be compared with top-line Bibles such as Cambridge's.
First, this Bible does not need to be compared with others in it's price range because it takes first place hands down. The leather will make you jump up and down in joy when you first open the box. It is amazingly soft, supple and flexible. The paper is excellent quality.
The Bible should be compared with those in the $90-$140 range, with which I will now compare it. Immediately upon seeing the cover is soft leather with stitched edges, you can see it's quality. However, opening the cover, it should be noted that the leather is backed by... paper. It's a shame - the quality is lowered with this. It has paste-off binding (google it) which is cheaper, but you probably won't have a problem with that unless you use your Bible for years upon years.
Still, for the price, it is as good as you can possibly get. Don't bother looking for something better in this price range. I would totally recommend this Bible to anyone, NIV fan or not.

This a wonderful value and a great Bible. The premium leather is very soft and supple. The paper seems to be of good quality although the margins are a bit too narrow for any real note taking.

Purchased this NIV, to get a good leather cover, and wanted a binding that would lay open. Meets my expectations. Great Bible for every day use. The references are very handy, and there is space in the center column for my own additional references.
Wish I could still find an NIV 1986 in good leather binding.

I love the feeling of this Bible in my hands and especially the weight. It is not difficult to carry this around especially for an older person. The print is not very big but I don't have a problem with it at all.

I am not an NIV fan but this new release exceeds my expectations. The cover was nice and leather smelling. As it is soft calfskin leather I am also a fan of that type cover. The translation is great for today's reader although, I am a literal only type person this was well done. You need this one for a reference if you don't like NIV because it does impress with the chosen words to get the point across. Some of the younger generation don't seem to understand many big and complicated words so the reading level should also help them. Thanks NIV translators! A work well done. You got it right this time

Very nice portable Bible. The cover has a lovely feel, & is very flexible. I just got this Bible & have begun to read it so I can't verify how well the binding will hold up. I've been discouraged with the shoddy workmanship in binding over the past few years, & am hoping that this one will hold up better. Since my eyes are aging, (along w/ the rest of me), the print may become more challenging to read because the font, which is fairly small makes the ink appear more like a very dk grey than black. I am an avid margin reference adder, the size of this Bible requires small margins which makes additions problematic. But that can't be helped. There are helpful/pertinent headings w/in the chapters denoting topics. Upon arrival, the pages were stuck together with gilding, but once those were released, the format enables quick reference finds during a sermon. The maps are nice & sufficient for this Bible. The concordance is also very adequate. I've never preferred the NIV, however I teach an adult class & since most of them use the NIV I have seen the need to use it.

Even though I had to wait (which I really don't do well) from February till April for the reference edition...it was worth the wait. Thankfully the good(calling Phoebe a deacon rather than a servant) of the 2011 update far outweighs the bad(The Valley of the shadow of death).

I ordered this bible in order to read the changes made to the NIV. The bible was a lovely color and I knew, in advance, that it was 'imitation' leather. That wasn't a problem for me as I've had other 'imitation' leather-like bibles and haven't experienced any problems (so far) with the construction of the bible. For the price point, I wasn't expecting a fancy leather item. What disappointed me was the translation as well as the translation team's discussion of the reasons for the changes made to the 1984 version. I much prefer the older version and gave the Bible to a friend (who loves lavender !). I would say the bible was a fair to good choice in the price category if someone was looking to own the 2011 NIV.

The new 2011 NIV is a very good upgrade from the 1984 translation, and has kept many of the very appropriate changes brought about in the TNIV of 2005. I have bought several of Zondervan's Bibles in the past and have been very satisfied with the quality, but the quality of paper and the stiff cover make this Bible feel cheaper made. I know that as times get tougher manufacturers have to cut some corners to make ends meet. I do applaud
Zondervan for keeping the prices of God's Holy Word affordable! Maybe in time and use this Bible will loosen up.

I was SO excited when I found this bible and couldn't wait to receive it. Upon receiving it I was disappointed with the quality of how it was made. The binding was glued and already coming apart. It was printed in China. The ribbon was cheap quality and crooked and not even centered in the bible. It is a gorgeous bible, but the quality was very disappointing. I was planning on having this bible for the rest of my life even when it was falling apart, but due to the poor quality I can see it falling apart in months or a couple of years. :( ... I was also unaware that the NIV has updated their version from the 1984 that we are all used to, so that was a surprise. I do however like the 2011 NIV. If you want a quality made bible, this is not for you.

I like the NIV 2011, but I don't recommend a thinline reference edition. It does not make for an enjoyable reading experience because it feels cluttered and looks confusing. There is also a lot of repeat cross references because in this Bible there are also footnotes. These footnotes will give you meanings or variants, but they will also give you some cross references. The cross references that are in the footnotes are also contained in the cross reference column. Also, the subscripts for the two are only slightly different in font, and that can be very confusing. If you want a good reading Bible get the thinline non-reference edition. If you want a good study Bible get a reference edition, but don't get the thinline version.
