At first I didn't think I would like the book. However, my daughter loved it. I think the best part for her was breaking up the 'lesson' reading with the 'stories' in each chapter. This curriculum explained so much to my daughter about God and who He is, (just as the title says) in an easy to read and understand format.

Our family is using this study. We like the story illustrations and emphasis on Sola Scriptura but the book does seem a bit tedious. We have only just started into it so maybe our perceptions will change.

This is a very good resource for my 13 year teenage daughter. Working together in sections and on her own, it is providing thought provoking conversations between us. The fictional stories highlight the underlining meaning of each concept/issue and brings home the message of God's love for us in such a way that my daughter can absorb it's spiritual nourishment. Great Stuff :D

My daughter and I LOVE this curriculum. We've tried other Bible curriculum's that my daughter found tedious, but this one assists students in solidifying their faith, understanding why they believe what they believe and becoming critical thinkers. It's done in a clear, easy to understand way. The journal allows her to be creative and she loves that. I highly recommend this program. Purchase the notebooking journal to go with it. It's worth it!

I was at first put off by the price of these items but now seeing the book and journals I am really excited for my children to start using them. I like the way they are laid out and the activities seem like they will really make them think about God. Excited to start these this year.

This book is great for introducing children to understanding world views. It helps to reinforce why they believe and why their beliefs matter. Knowing God and His Word will strengthen them to stand firm in their faith and explain their faith to others. However, if you are a very conservative Christian you may find that some of the examples are not suitable for your children.

This bible curriculum is outstanding. It explains biblical truths in fresh, new language that provokes thoughtful reflection and discussion. Three generations of Christians in our family are reading this text because it is so captivating. I use it to teach a 9 year old and a 6 year old and both interested and learning. I highly recommend this book!

I had been praying for something like this for several months. Needless to say, God heard, and answered my prayer. My children (ages 10 & 12), husband, and I are so pleased with this material. Definitely a God-send! I love how it enables and encourages children to develop their relationship with the Lord. It has a very personal feel to it, making the children want to draw near to God. Whether a new believer, or still searching, you'll find the truth here that will assist you in getting to know the Lord.

As a homeschooling parent one of my highest goals for my children (after helping them come to a saving relationship with Christ) is to equip them with a biblical worldview. Most worldview materials are geared towards high school age students (and older), so I was very excited to learn of the release of a series of books from Apologia designed to foster a biblical worldview in children between the ages of 6 and 14.
Produced in collaboration with Summit Ministries, the first volume Who is God? And Can I Really Know Him? teaches children the basics of what worldview is and why it is important before delving into teaching children about basic, foundational truths of doctrine. Likening the development of a worldview to the building of a house (a Summit Ministries model), authors John Hay and David Webb stress that before even building the house, it needs to be built on a rock solid foundation – God. So, that’s where this book starts out.
Produced in Apologia’s trademark textbook style, it is a sturdy, handsome hardcover with full color pictures and lovely artwork. Each lesson is broken into chunks that serve various purposes. There are teaching sections, enrichment sections that share interesting/somewhat related information, story sections that help with illustrations and memorable events, notebooking suggestions – this is a very rich program. Though there are only ten lessons included – each of them can easily be done over a two-week period. There is a lot of meat here.
My only concern is that there is a little TOO much meat for the lower end of the recommended age range. Although there ARE coloring pages you can buy as a supplement to the course, younger children just aren’t developmentally ready to do the sort of comparing and contrasting that this course calls for. My husband and I were working through this course with our children (our oldest is 8), but it was all going over their heads for the most part. WE really enjoyed it, but I think it is really best as a study if your oldest is 12 or so.
The early logic stage, 12-14 would really benefit from this course, as well as older students without any worldview instruction. Our young children are more focused on the grammar stage, factual content that they can easily grasp and remember. Who, what, when, and how are their key learning concerns; when we ask them for more, they simply meltdown on us. Simple books of children’s doctrine better serve younger children. Not only were my children blown out of the water by the content, but the notebooking questions were also very high – these are definitely better for students of at LEAST 10. After moving through a couple of lessons with overwhelmed children we decided to put the course aside for now.
That being said, this is really a beautiful course. It is richly supported with additional free downloadables (there is a website address included inside of the book when you purchase it) and is filled with vitally important, God glorifying content. We are definitely holding onto our copy and will be coming back to it again once our children are ready – we are looking forward to it. If you have children between 10 and 14, I think you will find this a very profitable study for your family.
I received a physical copy of this title in exchange for this review. All opinions are genuine and entirely my own.

My 5 year old daughter was recently saved after frequent visits with our pastor over the past couple of years. She has been walking with God from the beginning, but you wonder if a child that young really "gets it." We just added this book to our homeschool curriculum, and it has helped me to see that she really does understand biblical principles and how they apply to her life. This book is written in a conversational style, which makes it easy to sit down and study with the kids. It has lots of examples and stories to illustrate the ideas presented in a way that makes sense to the kids. Just what I would expect from Apologia at a little bit better price!

I originally bought this book for my son, who is in 8th grade this year. I was concerned that he might be too old for the text, but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too "young" for him in its approach. I have him doing the study independently, and then discussing major points with him. I plan to use it next year with my daughter.
I'm loving how this book presents the truth about God. Our view of God is based upon what we consider as "truth." We were made to worship; and in order to worship God in the way that He deserves, we must have a proper view of God based on truth. John 4 states that God is looking for "true" worshippers; and in order to be a true worshipper, we must worship in spirit and truth. As God reveals Himself to us and we learn what is true about Him, we respond to Him based on that truth. If we have a distorted perception of Him, then we respond based on that.
So often humanity's "view" of God is skewed because of circumstances in our lives, dictates of man or religion, etc. However, God is never-changing. So regardless of one's view of Him, that doesn't necessarily mean it's truth. I appreciate the universal truths of God presented in the book, because God is the same no matter what a person's beliefs or denomination is, and the basic truths about God and Who He is do not change.

We are using this for a daily family bible study and find it very thought provoking and interesting! I was a little hesitant to order this because it is considered a textbook and we don't go that route at all in our homeschooling, but I was pleasantly surprised. There is such a variety of information to go along with the lessons, and that makes it fun! I would definitely recommend this!
